Thanks so much for the Fully Working DX7 - this has been a great series - covering a wide array of different pd aspects - so far i've implemented your kick, snare & hh & i've watched through the 4 DX7 phase modulation videos - loving your work x

For those who are re-building it step-by-step, note that the ADSR in use here, is a modified version of the PD original one, with an important improvements.

Splendid. Love the Randomisation (It is a selective randomisation) and that you made it polyphonic. You can make a really nice generative music with this (by adding a Markov chain system to note sequencing and an Euclidean Rhythm system for triggering the randomisation) . Also i really like that you keep the interface design minimal and practical (great for interface tutorials). You can spend weeks on interface design (color schemes, reactive behavior etc.). Great material to study and learn.

Luckily it is hard to have a worse interface than the original DX7!

@@reallyusefulplugins I partially agree. Also i would like to point out that retro interface design is superior to modern interface design. Retro interface design was made for deep functionality (Turbo Assembler, Turbo Pascal). On the other hand modern interface is made just for the look. Also very modern aircraft embedded interface is very retro in style (minimal and robust) and most serious industrial software is also retro in style. Pure Data follow the same retro design. Everything is white and very simple but it is very powerful and complex. also ER-100 module interface is retro but it is a very powerful module.

@@robertboran6234 can you recommend any euclidean rhythm learning resources for pd?

@@djpersonalspace2406 A really good start that can help you is the official Pure Data forum. There are alot of experts on Pure Data there with who you can talk about this. Pure Data Forum : forum.pdpatchrepo.info/ also you can further check this for Euclidean rhythm : kzbin.info/www/bejne/oJKkfHyQpbN4ldE

Hi! Thank you for tutorials, best i've ever seen! Can you make a video about algorithmic composition? Maybe do an algorithmic sequencer and patch it to another (drums + synth). It's been Really Useful! Love your work!

Hi im 12 mins in and every time I move a parameter, I get the error loads of times "unpack: type mismatch" i tried downloading the example verison off of the google drive link but get same error? Any idea where I'm going wrong?

Hi. Good spot yes. Thanks for flagging this. This might be down to a mix up between an earlier patch that David did and the one that got uploaded. One used a "toOscs" message while the other used "toOsc" in the poly. We've updated the download version. Check you've got consistent names in the route objects and the elements sending to the patch. If it's still not working for you, have a look at the Tutorial18_dx7 version (rather than the "Fully Working" (ha) version) which has a version of the tutorial without the error (at our end anyway). If all else fails, then send the patch to our reallyusefulplugins at gmail and we'll have a look!

So I have a problem... when I send noteon/noteoff messages to the clone object, instead of only hearing the note I sent I also get the last 16 notes I sent all played at the same time... any idea what could be wrong here? (my parent patch looks identical for the record, and when I initialise a single copy of the abstraction it works flawlessly)

Hard to say - could be lots of things. Have a look at the downloadable version for comparison perhaps - see link above.
