Cillian Murphy winning for Oppenheimer is the first time in a long time where the Oscar was fully deserved. I saw Oppenheimer in cinema and he was flawless. I still dont know how DiCaprio took so long to win it and then the role that did win him it was only really a mid performance by his standards. He was incredible in Catch Me If You Can and also he should have had Best Supporting for his turn as Billy Costigan in The Departed

I like to see the great Anthony Hopkins here, two times, totally deserve both awards (sorry Black Panther fans), and the Will Smith case, of course he deserved that Oscar, because he gave a great performance in King Richard, and deservedly won it, the problem was "everything else", in that year 2022, the only thing people will remember is going to be the slap and nothing else, no one will remember who else won in the rest of awards, practically he stole the moment to everyone else, sad.

Pacino is one of the greatest, but not the greatest. Also, Oscars are awarded per-year, which means there could be better individual performances than his in a particular year by actors who are not considered better than him.

Then why do you watch movies? In your line of work, don't you get recognized? Like employee of the year , some even get a plaque or award etc. Being an actor is not easy. Lots of criticism not just from the industry but in the public eye as well. Ok, some are shallow, vain.. but others are not .

@@karenbanogon3244Thank you for your comment. I don't know how old you are but I'm guessing a little younger than myself. I'm not just writing random thoughts I really do remember when the Oscars meant something really tremendous to not only the person receiving one but to the wider audience as a whole. The sheer effort that it took in genius and hard work was NEVER under appreciated by regular people, coupled with the glamour and glitz of such a prestigious awards ceremony well you had a marriage made in heaven for ratings and interest. Now, like so many things people and organisations are singled out for different 'achievements' that have taken the place of excitement, talent, storytelling...etc.
