I also descend from Marie Antoinette, King Philip I of Spain, and a host of nobility from France, Austria, Scotland and Ireland. The common example given is that Angelina Jolie, Céline Dion and Madonna all have a common ancestor. I know because I too am related to one of them. In modern day I am related to Marc Messier, Andy Williams, Ray Girardin, Marie Philip Poulain. You get to find out these historic gems when you put in hours of painstaking research. Many of these are ridiculous -- most people of western European ancestry, including me, descend from Charlemagne and many people of British ancestry (waves hi) descend from Plantagenet royalty. So what. And 20th cousins to QE2? Come on, that's a reach. Mormon obsession with ancestry allowed my brother to find lots of English royals in my line. The one I think is most interesting is John I, signatory of the Magna Carta (29 generations back). He was the son of Henry II, so Brad Pitt and Sigourney Weaver are my cousins.

None of this is any great surprise. Genealogists have said that anyone living today who has any European DNA is descended from Charlemagne, and those early rulers almost all were.
