Pure Living for Life Just watched it. Looks good. Great comparison job. Very helpful to many people I'm sure. I never heard of the products, none of the manufacturers I mean. Great plugs , though I know it wasn't your priority. They should compensate you really. These systems might be in the stores, but come on actually seeing them perform? Best or not at least people get to see. Many may go low end, some the other ways. All because you guys showed the products on your channel on your valued time! Thanks.

Hey Jesse if you paint the exhaust pipe matte black should help with the glare off the current paint. People down south usually but a matte black decal on their hoods to help with the glare of the sun. Just a suggestion.

I would kindly suggest getting a can of high temperature matte black spray paint and paint the smoke stack to reduce the glare from the light bar shining on it.

Not quite a fair comparison for the cheaper light bar as far as the distance goes. Your cheap one is curved which does spread the light out to the side versus the straight which will focus the light more for farther throw. I have a curved $50 32 inch in the front of my Jeep and it gets at least 250 feet out but lighting up the side of the road is where it excels against just using my headlights. The side of the road is lit up almost as much as the center of the road. Driving a highway that if you don't see a deer on at night is a rarity I like the fact that I can see the ditches as well as the down road. Has saved me from hitting deer quite a few times. Sorry i don't have a pics to include or videos since installing the light bar.

I actually have been running the cheap end lights on my Jeep Wrangler for a few years. they have held up pretty good. I have 2 pod flood lights on my A Pillar mounts and a 12" bar on my front bumper by my winch.

Id rather buy 2 cheap sets than spend $1k. You can say quality costs more, but in the case of lights it doesn't. In reality most people will change out lights because of any number of reasons apart from them just burning out, like them getting physically damaged or even just wanting something different. Almost all LEDs are built equally, it's the housing that you're paying out the ass for. You could take a cheap light bar, make it more waterproof and even add a couple extra heat fins to it with only a few extra dollars. And doubling up the bars will be far more light than the $1k set and would last just as long. In absolutely no way will it ever be justified to spend that much on a light bar, that's just ridiculous. At that point you might as well build custom lights rather than getting a bar that sticks out like a sore thumb

From what I could tell, the Baja pods combined with the Rigid bar would give you the best all around lighting for the best price for your application especially because you need to see what's happening at the sides of the backhoe driving in between obstacles.The Baja light bar seems best suited for fast driving where you need see farther to aid reaction time.

The drone footage really showed the differences in the throw of these, and showed how little throw and yellow those rear lights are. Big difference and step up, even in the cheapest ones. Thanks for the reference if I need some for my tractor.

You do know that for a few dollars you can seal the connectors against water and debris. How far ahead do you need to be able to see on a tractor that has a top speed of, what, 15mph? Buy the cheap set, with a spare, just in case. Save $800+. Put a beacon on top so traffic will be able to see you at night regardless of which direction you're facing.

I find it difficult to balance how good a light is just by looking at the output of one light at a time. What I would have been interested to see is your Ford truck lights on high alongside. How much better are these pod and bar lights by companion to a set of high end car lights.

I find it interesting that with the billions of hours of video on youtube, countless interesting topics, and huge range of quality, people complain that the content produced on a specific channel is not what they want to see. In the "old days" if my father did not like what was on the channel he had one of us kids turn the nob until he found a show he liked or he decided nothing was worth watching and he went and did something else. I used the remote to flip through several hundred channels and if nothing was on, went and did something else. Now you can find something to fit you interest anytime of day or night from Hollywood blockbusters to the weird kid who films snot bubbles. If you don't like what Jesse and Alyssa are filming, find something else to watch. For the life of me I cannot figure out why people want to complain about the content being produced by someone else. For that matter I am finding it hard to figure out why I am taking my time to complain about people complaining. Glad things are moving forward you two. I look forward to the next video. I hope it is interesting. :) If not, there is always the ozzy man reviews. :)

There's absolutely no doubt in my mind after seeing this that the Baja lights are VASTLY superior to the other offerings... however... I find it very very hard to justify the price difference. I completely hear what you're saying about wanting to avoid the buy and dispose mentality, but when you can buy 14 sets of the cheap lights for the same investment. Time will tell how many years it takes to break even on the higher priced lights, if that actually ever happens. I sure do value "Made in USA" but there comes a time when the price is SO far removed from the Chinese imports that it becomes impractical to justify the additional expense for use on a tractor. If I was driving a Pro Rally car I would spend the money on the ruggedness of the top of the line lights in a heartbeat because driving through wilderness roads at a high rate of speed the better light pattern would provide serious benefit. On a backhoe on private property, the additional investment seems foolish. On a race car the additional investment is essential. Just my 2 cents.... I love your channel, I've watched every video, and always value your input on products such as this.

We agree. The lights were good. Everyone has a budget and everyone has their unique needs. I've learned in life that everyone spends money. It's all a matter of preferences. I've known people who live in a rv and drive a Maserati. They value cars. A lot of people drive broke down cars (if they even have one) with unsafe tires and burnt out headlights, shop at Walmart for food but have a 74" high def and buy movies on Amazon all day. Most people pay over $100/mo for a cell phone (which they never make calls with) that they simply play games on....which also cost money. Others have worn out carpet, broke down washing machines in their yard, but have brand new firearms. So the "it's too expensive" objection is pointless. We live in a day and age of options. Too many of them. That's why we feel this test was a lot of fun. Long, exhausting, but a interesting. Some folks who watch love to buy cheap tools. They use them once, throw them away. Others want to pass those tools on to their grandchildren. Some folks who stumble on this video (like every single subscriber we have once did) will find it interesting and helpful. Maybe one of them will have the budget, need or spontaneous desire to own a light bar that equals most peoples mortgage payment. You spend your money how you want, they'll spend theirs how they want. Now a video about all the ridiculous things people spend/waste money on, THAT WOULD BE FUN! That series would take us the rest of our lives! :0

Is enough whit 4x100w flood light bars. one on each side of the roof. You need the most light near the backhoe. max 10-15 yards. 100 yards and over are for cars. max $ 100 piece.

Two grand in lights? Yikes! // Cheap light set: Flicker? I've never seen a DC light flicker (other than vibration), so that's strange. "If you're only looking at light output." What does that mean? // Mid light set: The pod lights are bluer than the rest, probably 7000k vs 5-6000k. Nice overall. The missing light under the bucket could be filled by a pair of the cheapy pods mounted on the front of the cowling. // ChaCHING light set: A little more light overall, probably. Nice lights, for only a month's wages! I'm sure that's what Jesse ends up with, huh, Alyssa? How's the new immersion blender, anyway? Keep the others around and use them for yard lights over the sawmill, etc. What would I do? Go with the cheapy light set, but get a longer bar mounted on top, which will give you the spot distance/brightness you want and extra flood, too. (How often are you going to be driving under low-hanging branches that the bucket would have already hit?) Cost

On the wires with the connecter with the exposed ends i would have put a smaller diameter and a larger diameter piece of shrink tubing on it before putting the connecter on it..put the larger diameter over the end on connecter with the exposed ends shrink it and small one over the other end of large shrink tube to get a good tight fit.

Nice reviews ! I looked at many lights and for the weekend warrior 4x4 or off road the low cost have worked great the past year. I run two 20 inch bars and two flood pods on my Ram 2500 front bumper. I think the cost was around 80$ from Amazon. No complaints and if one gets a rock in the eye I didn't loose much in $$.

Honestly 900 dollars for a light set up is just plain stupid. The cheaper lights where better than the rigid set up. If anyone buys 1200 worth of lights for a tractor they need to see the psych ward. I would personally go with the cheaper brand hundred dollars for lights or a backhoe is basically all I would spend.

For $900 or even half of that, think of the lights and wire they could run to trees surrounding the open area. Those lights could fill the whole space fairly evenly, meaning less pupils constricting from looking at the bright spots and unable to see into the more darkness on the sides.

Great Video! The comments about you only finishing 20% of house is misleading. You have finished the all important and most stressful part of the house and the part you can't get wrong. The rest of the house will be easier on you because you will be inside mostly once the roof is on.

Good point James...... Jessie why don't you just put a couple motion sensor power poles say at the bottom of the driveway and top of the driveway and maybe a third by the house. They would only come on with motion and therefore not have to be turned on or waste power.

Wow, looks like you get what you pay for. Sure will be nice to add some light to the backhoe now. Really liked the comparisons. I can't afford a tractor right now but have an atv that I can use some lights on. If I was running a race and need the performance then Baja the way to go. If running a tractor and need dependability and workability then Rigid. If I'm broke and need a quick fix, the Chinese cheepies. Thank you.

This isn't a cheap vs expensive comparison. Instead it is a comparison of different designs. You can get any beam spread and color temperature in a cheap light or in an expensive light.

id probably say if you insist on the 300ft forwards range, for which i see no point since it is a backhoe but whatever, the mix in my opinion would be a rigid light bar and 2 sets of the cheapo light pods, one for the front and one for the back, that way on the back you can run wires out and have a light on the backhoe which is always convenient without being sad if you smash it against some lumber you are moving around

Why not just take the phone to a fixed point and measure the lumens and color. When I did my street lighting for a project, I used Inductive lights as they were more efficient than LEDS. I chose 4000k . I would think gettting leds at 5000k would be good. Getting above 5000k will help keep you up at night. The LEDs are selectable on those cheap lights or china will make them with what you want. I would like to know where the chip plant is to made the LEDS. Epistar LEDs were designed here but made elsewhere. The case is probably made in the US with the light pods imported. Just look at the detailed specs of which type of LED is there. The Efficacy, Kelvin temp and design is what to look for. The rest is just a case holding the light bulb. 90% of electronic products on the planet have something from China. They are running a long term game plan instead of looking 90 days ahead. I just looked at aliexpress where I have bought alot of stuff and looked at some bars. Looking at the specs of 1 producer, they use Korean LG high power LEDS in the 60w to 300w range with die cast aluminum housing. Lumens are from 3600 to 18000 lumens in 3000k and 6000k. Designed for off road vehicles.10 inch to 50 inch. The big one is $460 Be cool to see that badboy in action. Great video as usual and great effort in comparing the lights. Alot of work went into this video. Surprised you didn't get icycles on chin. I used to get those when it got below 10 in Wisconsin. Have great plowing with those LEDS. Goodbye to ancient lighting.

Interestingly enough, I liked the light pattern of the $20 light bar better than the $400 baja. Now the Baja pods are better, just talking about the bar itself. That said the quality difference would make me not even consider the cheap ones. If I do something like this I want to do it once..not every few months when they break.

So glad to see important things like lights being invested in properly, for some weird reason I think a lot of people don't like spending money on this sort of thing because the cheaper stuff "will do". Well done for putting your own sanity and safety first and investing in lights that aren't going to cause a headache later down the line! I'm sure if you spent a few weeks using each type of light, you'd really notice the difference, especially with the flickering you saw with the budget stuff
