It's heavy by some of today's melodic hardcore standards. Essentially anything that's edgy, is obsessed over on tumblr, has consistent harsh vocals, and poetic but borderline pretentious lyrics with dark imagery can be considered "heavy". Nevertheless the band is still pretty damn good regardless of whether it's heavy or not.
