There are two rooms in the Ratna Bhandar where the treasure is kept. One is bittar bhandar which means inner room and the other is bahar bhandar which means outer room. In them Bahar Bhandar is opened when required. The ornaments used to decorate the idols are kept here. However, the inner chamber has not been opened for the last 38 years. According to official records, the treasure room was opened once in 1978.
Then in 1985, the Archeology Department of India reopened the room.
In 2018, a question was raised in the Odisha Assembly as to how many jewels are in the inner room of the Ratna Bhandar. To this the then Law Minister Pratap Jena replied and said that in the survey conducted in 1978 there were 12,381 tolas of gold ornaments and 22,153 tolas of silver vessels. A total of 149.609 kg of gold ornaments and 258 kg of silver utensils can be assumed. But in Ratna Bhandar, it was heard that Margana had another room in the room. Many gold boxes were found in this too. These gold boxes are currently kept in a different strong room. The gvouranament said that after repairing the rooms in the Ratna Bhandar, the gold will be put back in the same room and counted. But how did the treasure get into these secret rooms? Who doesn't?
