Is the music video about Rebirth? If so, could you go into more detail? Sorry, just curious! Lol
@simplylibby9978 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, we weren't told much about what the music video was about - but were given a few acting directions... Take them as you'd like I suppose - We were told to treat the older lady as if she was the leader of our nun troupe... but she was getting old and had to be replaced. Hence, that's where the younger version of the woman came in. It's an initiation process, having the younger girl kill the older one... As far as I know, that's where the begin again thing comes in - the process is to be repeated again and again every time the girl gets old. More information may have been given to the actors in the orchard, but I wasn't present on that day sadly.

If you've ever watched livid, an old vampire traps a young girl and forces her to eat an insect which symbolizes the soul of the old women, the old woman then takes over the body of the young girl and the young girl becomes the old woman, she then tries to kill her old body. Im assuming this is inspired by a similar ritual where eternal youth is achieved by constantly consuming the youth and 'disposing' of whats left. Sinister as fuck... but has a lot of deep symbolism behind it. Creative as shit nonetheless, amazing work! THIS DIRECTOR NEEDS TO MAKE SOME INDIE HORRORS ALREADY!

Its the birth of the fifth age. Its some Theosophy bullshit combined with Hindu Tantra, and Hermeticism and even Thelema. The only reason why I'm here is to warn people. This IS some sinister shit! Her voice is beautiful but the spiritual forces she invoked are pure fucking malignant evil.
@papi18708 жыл бұрын
+Mowgli ManCubs The Fifth Age is almost here. Itll start once Prince William becomes king!
@LilUFO94998 жыл бұрын
+Mowgli ManCubs Yup. Let's all invoke evil spirits through the power of music. Seriously, i'm not making fun of you, i believe in spirits because of things i saw, and also personal opinions, idk if you're serious about all that malignant evil stuff and all that shit, but invoking evil spirits with just a music video.. The video is talking about a loop. Someone comes to life and is choosen to be the new body for a lady who's soon to die, a girl (appearently special because if there were no need for a special person to do the ritual they wouldn't bother themselves going around and digging out a fully grown woman), weirdly enough, the girl could have choosen to not eat whatever was in that crusty looking "fruit" (is it a fruit?) and to let the woman die, but as the lyrics says it begins again, so there were some kind of force of habit even though the girl had no idea about it since she was just born. Who knows how many times did that ritual happened before? To me it shows that humans live in a loop. It isn't evil, it shows how we will always act the same. We've been through the same things everytime, and it became a mecanism, it seems normal to us to do things like war and other kind of conflicts, racism, rebellion, cruelty, because we've always done these things. And even if we wanted to stop it all, we couldn't, because it'd still be somewhere in our memory, because when we learn about this world's past, we have war, conflicts, racism, and cruelty. We can only hope for a peaceful world, because our ancestors doomed us when they created such concepts without even knowing it. We evolved in some ways and started to treat people better through time, but we will never be perfectly respectful and peaceful with everyone because of that loop that we never get out of. This video is made for us to imagine a signification to it. I'm not saying that mine is right, or that yours is wrong, but, a video shouldn't be judged because of what we've seen, it should be analyzed on the philosophical side of it (well when there's one because there isn't any deep thought in shitty music with shitty videos that are way too popular for what they are). That video could have been made with other elements of decoration and still could have told the same story but the aesthethical side of the video suited the music's melody, so i think it's a great choice. Creepy but mesmerizing.
@peterhuber17023 жыл бұрын
One of the best concept films/music videos ever made. The fantasy subject is done so realistically that you're engaged right away, trying to understand the setting and the story. The casting is also stunning - every person in the film, including Megan and Corin, fit their roles perfectly. The diggers and the nun at 1:05 are my favorites - such great faces....

i personally have the perspective that this song is symbolic of motherhood. "you be the moon (moon usually represents mother in different cultural symbolism) , ill be the earth ( i believe this is reference to being a child of the earth after being born) And when we burst ( the young girl eventually growing up and becoming a mother) start over, oh darling, begin again. its the cycle, that can be painful and beautiful at the same time.

Adding onto the theories about rebirth, I believe the young girl born from the dirt /is/ the old woman. But, not their souls being transferred as people suggest. They have the same appearance which makes me think they're are the same person, but the girl doesn't know what's happening the whole video suggesting she is her own person. The older woman knows the ways of their system, when people are reborn it's ritual to kill their old selves, those who already lived full lives, and thereby the old woman openly passed her life to the youth.
@-megaera96283 жыл бұрын
I like this interpretation
@coleneer33514 жыл бұрын
I think it's about passing things on to the next generation. Our children and Grand children are our reborn selves, hence all of the alluding that the two women are the same person. Everybody plays a role in the ritual of passing on what the old lady has to the young one, just as society and family play that role as well. As a child all of these things occur without us realizing it, so naturally that young girl is gonna be extremely confused and even scared looking out at the world. The old lady is calm and collected because she realizes this is a part of life, but likely is just as about as confused as the young one is, just comfortable with it. Even with all the knowledge and spirit of the old lady, after she dies the child is still afraid and confused, yet is expected to head the group they are a part of which likely represents family. As a Matriarch dies another has to take over, people have to look for someone for comfort, but the reality is leaders never truly understand more then others, they are just as confused, but get less afraid of the unknown as time goes on. Ultimately it represents how each passing generation must deal with the fear of what they don't know, because even with the knowledge of a lifetime, there will still be things in the world you will never understand.
@andrewderfelt99744 жыл бұрын
That is a very good way of looking at it. I was thinking that the video describes the process we must go through to kill the old versions of ourselves, and the new version has to "stomach" the heartaches and burdens of life. Once the younger woman consumed what was on her plate the older woman could finally let go and encourage the new version to go through with it. The women with the head garments are her emotions that are controlling her throughout the process. Your old self has to die to allow for a better version. The young girl was reluctant to do it, but in the end just like her we all do it. Like a snake shedding or a butterfly exploding into existence, and as humans we choose to get rid of the self we used to know and take on a new identity in order to understand and cope with the blissful burdens of self awareness.

It's clear this is supposed to be some kind of heart fruit. It kind of hails back to gothic and old fairy tale themes as well as ritual. The idea is that the fruit binds the old woman to the young woman and the blood of the sacrifice of the old lady's body allows the transfer. It's a play on the more morbid themes of immortality (which fits the tone of the song and notes perfectly).

This reminded me of an art project I made involving a tree that contains human organs and instead of wood it's covered in skin. Anyways I think the plant that grows from the tree grows into a tree but it also forms a human underneath. I'm guessing the two who dug up the body were born from a womb, while the people in the castle were born from the same type of tree. Maybe it was only the two in white that were born from the trees and the women are harvesting them. I'm not sure what was going on when the old man put that liquid on his face but it might've been from the long rope like object attached to the body and the liquid might be some form of placenta.
