I'm just spent over $200 on a huge disappointment. The advertisement showed a big dog laying comfortable and we'll supported. The actual bed when it arrived proved the opposite. My 50 lb dog sank to the ground. I appreciate your review so much. Very informative.

Great review, nice insight, it‘s so hard getting good dog beds keeping the type of foam in mind as well as the external material and bolsters etc. I liked that you went in detail and compared it to your other dogs and that you checked the heat of the bed.

After seeing the rips in the grid, this is just a guess, but I’m thinking they make the pet beds out of the mattresses they get returned. Probably cut the grid in half length wise then glue it to the foam. Was thinking about getting this because I LOVE my purple mattress but my baby deserves better than this. Thanks for the review.

This would make sense but possibly not return. Maybe excess or runoff to maximize production yield. Ultimately do not know unless Purple was to disclose this. For me personally I just feel the inconsistent quality of the cubing was a bit of a disappointment.

Thank you for doing a long term review. I've been looking into getting my middle aged dog a higher quality pet bed. I keep going back and forth between Big Barker and Purple and yes I agree I wish Purple had some bolsters. Also really enjoyed you checking the temperature. I've heard about people putting cooling pads inside of these to counteract that.

Yes I am looking to do a review on big Barker, casper and some others. Big Barker does offer a trail period which is nice so that is a plus if you go that route. I think Casper looks to be a good choice as well and offers bolsters. Dog bed for less is also solid and as I noted on Amazon and they have one that has a headrest although no bolsters. Experiences With My Dog sadly I tried the Casper version and the bolsters are too low and my boxer really didn't like it. That's what led me to look for reviews on the purple dog bed. Of course, your dogs may like it but my dog likes all beds and he seemed to avoid the Casper.

I think overall the dog bed for less is my current go to recommendation they are a few others that look to be good offerings but as you noted really depends on the dog. Check out Doctor Bark, Bully Beds, Kopecks and WestPaw. That is a pretty good mix of options. Good luck!

Sad to hear people do not like these dog beds! My big baby loves hers. We have two. We’ve had them for 3 years? Same condition and thickness as when we got it. No dips. No grooves. She has arthritis and would wake up all night on and off. After we bought these, sleeps like a baby :) She’s never “sank to the bottom”. That sounds like a return issue.

Crate is a 43"x28.5 - They could use a smaller crate but I like to give them extra room to feel a bit more comfortable and easily stand up and turn around or adjust themselves. The bed itself was medium size. Do you have a bully? If so please give him a big treat from myself and Modok.

I have no experience with cats, as such I do not feel I should comment. I would say due to the fabric material I would not advise it and as the sizing for the cover is non standard it would not be one I would attempt to use.

What is your opinion on a Big Barker bed?

I think it is a great option and is produced by a great company in the US but the cost is fairly high considering it is still memory foam. I think value wise that "dogbedforless" can offer a very good quality foam based bed with a headrest for a lower price while also offering lots of options for the covers which I think is very important. Some dogs do not like some surfaces so being able to change it is valuable. Furthermore it is great being able to have covers to easily swap when washing one or if one gets torn or worn. That being noted I have three covers ( one is heavy duty waterproof nylon, denim and then a standard cover and all have held up great ). I am hoping to review one of Big Barkers soon. I also feel if you want to go with a high quality option that does not use foam Savvy Rest is a great option and still much less than the Big Barker. I will say there are some important items that Big Barker directly communities ( made in the US, USA zippers that are high quality and large, the glue used for bonding is safe ( it is water based ), american made memory foam ) as such it is a premium but I do think it is reasonable. Hoe this helps.

Thanks for your feedback, I do feel it is overpriced but will say it has held up but as noted in the review I still have sizeable concerns. Overall it would not be a "pet bed" I would readily recommend. There are many other quality options at a lower price point that does not compromise on the overall quality.

It definitely had a number of cons and overall I stand behind I feel its value is not strong compared to other options. It has held up overall but I would also note that I do keep a secondary blanket in the crate on top of the bed and my bully is pretty relaxed when adjusting himself so as to not wear on it heavily. If Purple made a few key revisions it would definitely be a better buy. Hope you found the review useful.
