So after watching this review I had to investigate as to why Cassie always had her hair tucked in because it was done so much in the movie it's clearly purposeful. And what I found out is apparently that was a decision by the actress who played her, Sofia Carson. Apparently she does that herself in her day to day life and decided to incorporate into Cassie's life and also that in so many scenes Cassie is so emotional and sad that she didn't want the hair to get in the way. This is a small plot point to get stuck on, but as a former addict, I'm confused how Luke was even able to get a dealer to front him 15K worth of whatever his drug of choice was; heroin probably? I would guess he is definitely not telling the whole truth when it comes to "being an addict". Dealers don't like fronting addicts for obvious reasons, and I can't imagine a dealer letting someone whose just a user have that kinda credit with them. Luke had to be selling for that shady dealer guy. He was probably fronting Luke that amount to sell, and then meeting up with him in a day or two and getting what he was owed. I’ve been a diabetic since i was 2, (20 years with it) And insurances do randomly deny coverage for insulin. It usually runs up to like $900 for one vial. Those old school syringes make insulin injections burn a lot. People only use those syringes nowadays if they have crappy insurance that doesn’t cover more modern methods. I saw it because of the representation of diabetes. When her blood sugar dropped from not eating, it’s accurate. Some people are more sensitive to low blood sugars than others, and there’s varying factors. I can be up walking around completely fine, just feeling shaky and hungry. Some people can barely walk or chew. The insulin injection scenes are a bit melodramatic but I’ve had days where every injection hurts and burns and i feel worn out and weak as a result
@casna54002 жыл бұрын
I think they might’ve been trying to show her going through Diabetic ketoacidsis from that fragment of the high blood sugar scene they showed; but the thing is, if you’re in dka, you have to be on an IV, injections aren’t helpful anymore(type 1 of 23 years who once dated another type 1 who dka’d)
@tatianamaldonado56242 жыл бұрын
@@casna5400 I’ve been in DKA a few times throughout my life. You’re absolutely right. I've been a military spouse for 12 years. Next to no one in the community cares if your marriage is "fraudulent." It's common for young enlisted to get married just so they can move out of the dorms. I've known couples who are eachothers beards. I've known couples who are seperated and just continue living together for the benefits. It's so commonplace that most people don't even bat an eye, just so long as you're not sleeping around on base.

@@sarahg1002 Yes. You make like 3x as much because you get paid to live off barracks and you get money for food, rather than having money automatically taken out of your paycheck for the chowhall (and then you're never given the opportunity to get to the chowhall, either in the morning - PT then work - or lunch - not enough time to get to the chowhall then back - and oftentimes not after work either - Staff NCOs fucking with you because they're in an unhappy marriage and not eager to go home so they keep you all there so you suffer too). AND you get out of the barracks, and living in the barracks is the primary way Staff NCOs fuck with you: inspecting your room, failing you for bullshit reasons, then securing your libo so you have to spend Friday night cleaning again, then being in uniform to be inspected early Saturday. I'd say probably most Marines just want to fuck off and be left alone, but enough Staff NCOs resent how they go fucked with, so they want to pass it on to the next generation of Marines.

"Contact marriage" are kind of common. Usually they're childhood friends and someone is actually secretly in love with the other then things get messy. On rare occasions they become a real marriage. For this couple in particular, it would be crazy easy to convince the military they're legal after the drug dealer told on them. Especially since they lived together and regularly talked when he was deployed. There are plenty of legit marriages where the spouse back home is garbage and just pretend their deployed spouse exist then cheats the whole time they're gone.

This movie was ALL kinds of bad, but as a mere high school theater director, I cannot, cannot CANNOT understand the choice to have this actress (or just what? Let her??) tuck her hair in to her shirt for the whole movie! This director must have either had a weird hair fetish, or the actress was threatening to walk off the set if she wasn’t allowed to do it. Because there is no other logical solution for it! 😱 None! OMG I seriously just cannot! Also, I’m loving all your green screen time in this one! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼❣️

Maybe they tried to make it like a cute "quirk" that's the only thing I can think of

You're absolutely right about the recording making her sound weird she's in Disney's Descendents and her voice is WAAAAY different and better in that

Ok we need to find out from the actress or the director or producer or whoever- WHO TF HAD THE CREATIVE DECISION TO KEEP THAT WOMAN’S HAIR TUCKED IN?! I just want to talk like I need to know why
@courtenaywalker50682 жыл бұрын
I feel like it was probably the actress because she is in another Netflix original where she’s a ballerina teaching dance to young kids “Feel the Beat” I think it’s called and if I’m remembering correctly she does the same thing with her hair multiple times in that movie 😬

I'm with you, my friend....this makes as much sense, and fills me with just as much anxiety, as a woman running/fighting in high heels, with her hair down. So, I'm gonna go ahead and leave a comment, just in the off chance someone actually comes along with an answer to this question, and I can finally, once again, sleep at night!?!? 🤞

I just had the BIGGEST brain fart! When she mentioned heroine I was wondering what if she actually had a heroine problem but passed it off as diabetes and THEN got married to get extra money to support her drug problem and then later they bond over the struggle of trying to get out of drug use. Like, instead of the "bad drug dealer guy" breaking in to her parents house because of him, it would actually be because of her!! And then he would find out that way and try to help her. And then it could spiral from there, you know like an actual good plot?

Such a better story in such a short paragraph! 😂 they should've gone with that. And maybe Luke wasn't an addict but a troubled hot head who had mad issues with his dad which is why they're so estranged. Maybe his dad was abusive towards him and his mum and his brother? and so Luke got up to no good, criminal record and what not. But somehow him and whatsherface help each other heal and wanna change and do better bla bla bla . Characters need depth and layers 😭

I’m glad I’m not the only one who the hair tucking bothered! Jaime as bad as this one was, you should review The Royal Treatment. Also a Netflix stinker and I think even cringier than this one. Love your videos!!!!

I love the timing that you have with the breaks, it completely reminds me of watching TV back in 2003 on my living room TV when everyone always said, "and we'll be right back after these messages" cut to commercial break. I was literally just talking about that with my partner while I was watching your last video! 💙 Bring back all the good nostalgic memories every time 👌

The girl that plays Cassie, Sofia Carson, is in the Descendants movies (Disney+) that are definitely ‘bad’ but I love them and I think you’d get a kick out of them too, I highly recommend them. There’s 3 in total plus an animated show and special but they’re not as ‘good’ as the 3 live action movies.
