Oh man, transparent sheets are better because you can see the bubbles easier. Try the green one from corner to corner starting in 1 corner 1st and slowly lay it down to the other corner. I've found that works best to get rid of bubbles.

LOVE this project! I've watched the video over and over, both for the project instructions and your soothing voice. 😄 I'm about to embark on making my own to try to sell this weekend at a small Renaissance festival in Bonita Springs, FL. I've got the mold (actually 3 of them, with a 4th on the way, and another set of the mini skulls), I just received the Lilac Bloom glitter and holographic silicone sheet today, and I have the transparent dye set from Let's Resin. The only thing different is my resin, which is a 2-part epoxy resin, that I can push to pouring about 4 ounces at a time in the skull mold, so I'll have to do an extra pour after my first layer. I do get lines from my different pours; is it better to try and do another layer when the previous one is more like gel than waiting for it to harden more? Anyways, I want to say thank you for all your hard work, wonderful videos, and inspirational projects. You're awesome! 🥰

To avoid the layers pour your new layer when the previous layer starts to gel. That's how you avoid those demarcation lines. When you lay the holographic insert down try placing it down corner to corner. I've found that will eliminate bubbles better then laying it down top to bottom

I'm doing a weekend show with two other women in a couple of weeks and I am determined to make a skull. I love all of them but the purple really jumps out at me. I've never used Liquid Diamonds before and am little intimidated by measuring the 2-1 ratio properly, but I'm going to give it a try.

They're so easy to make and I promise the liquid diamonds is very easy to mix and use. I like to mix 6 oz at a time. So 2oz part B and 4 oz part A. Making 6 oz total. I've seen other resin artists use alcohol when they don't want to burn the silicone mold with a heat gun/torch/flame. They can end up bonding with the resin. Some people also overwork resin with a torch and burn the surface leaving a scar. I don't know the science of it, either.

I love this and got the mold just for this purpose. I am doing one right now. I went to pour my last layer and I am just under the rim and the inlay is not going to work yet. Will I be able to finish with UV resin? Or do I have to mix up that small amount of the 2 part?

These are so fun to make. You can definitely use UV resin if you like. It works with the holographic inserts.

No, sometimes I will pull the mold to the side and squirt a little 91% isopropyl alcohol down into the mold and rub the mold around so it spreads out. That will make it pop right out if it is tricky to demold.

What do you use to smooth the edges without scratching or clouding the resin?

@@naptimecreations perfect. I’ve had this mold for a few weeks but haven’t used it yet. Excited to do so, planning on doing it soon. New to the art so hopefully my edges are also smooth! But I make feeder bowls for jumping spiders and small reptiles and am looking for a good, clean way to smooth the edges. My hubby and I are currently sanding and overall it does well but sometimes it scratches and even clouds the bottom of the bowls. 🤔 Will definitely watch that video, thanks so much!

@@beckysilver-aunes825 you can lay diffraction grating down directly onto the wet resin but it's very expensive and it can get damaged if you do it that way. I prefer to use the silicone molds made from the diffraction grating because they're not expensive like the diffraction grating sheets are. I bought a tiny sheet of the diffraction grating and it was $20. That was the best price I could find it for.

Great video, but very surprised that someone like you (who seems to have a lot of experience) would be using a stick to pick the bubbles out or IPA to burst the bubbles instead of using a long neck lighter, especially bearing in mind how much the IPA dries out the silicon mold. At least you weren't using a chef's torch which i see so many people using & they cause so much damage to the molds it's crazy to still see people using them. Anyway, as I said, great video & I love the holographic effect you got & a gorgeous colour too.

How much did you get just curious. I just finished buying the skull color I had to get somewhere else they didn’t have. Hope it looks the same got off eBay. Got the right glitter and that sheet 3D got right. Also got spray bottle and alcohol today too. I just need that resisn now. Gotta wait till next payday. I spent alot got like 6 molds already. Got a diamond one didn’t turn out good. I think the shape was off a bit from manufacture.
