This sounds so close to the original, I didn't think it would work when first trying it but, I was proved wrong after a couple of attempts and that F# bass note is just class. Thank you.

Hey Rob, I’ve been looking for an “easier” version of this song for a while without losing its true melody and you nailed it here. I’m more a rock/metal beginning/intermediate player but I don’t think anyone could say Prince isn’t an amazing guitarist as well as an overall musician. Thank you for posting this and you’ve gained another follower.

Hey thanks..! That was an awesome lesson. Powerful. In my haste, I didn't realize the links were there....Can you at least co-ordinate the chords to the Ohhhh's? Does he start the first Oooh at Dsus 2? ...thanks

What about adding the 2cnd string 3rd fret to your Em at the end of your verseEmsus2 let's say - only wanna....A? Sounds funky - what u think?
@RobHampton3 жыл бұрын
I think you mean adding it to the E chord, right? (not Em). Anyway, YES! That turns it into an E7, which is what Prince's melody suggests too. Sounds great.

Great job ! In some guitar lesson, people play F#m7 or F#m11 instead of Asus2/F#. And with a capo on 1s fret... Anyway it sounds good. Thanks for this very detailed tutorial !
@HeartwoodGuitarInstruction8 жыл бұрын
+Lag Man Glad you dug it! Those other chord names are usually used for the same chord as Asus2/F#. Three ways of naming the same chord. And yes, to play in the same key as the original recording, Capo 1. Thanks for clarifying this.

The original is done in B flat, but if you use your chords then just capo at first fret. Bruce Springsteen does it I believe capo on third fret of course with different chords. Jeff Beck I believe does it with your chords. Nice job simplifying it. Solo in A or F minor with your chords.
