Jay Howie You, sir, are simply a girt from God. Your talents are out of this universe. Im very thankful to have stumbled on to your channel about 5 months ago, and i listen all the time. I wanted you to know, Im 55 years old and have been playing guitar for 43 of those years. Your amazing talent has inspired me to push myself to be better. I turn on your music, grab my ole Alvarez grand auditorium guitar, and start strumming along. You've taught me how to run leads, improve rhythm, and the big one is, I am learning to do something I've only dreamed of being able to do, im able to use a slide now. Im far from being stage ready playing it, but I can see it actually happening now, and not just in my dreams. Your rendition of "Purple Rain" is incredible. Masterfully done. The best I've ever heard. Thank you brother for sharing your talents with all of us. I know im not the only one that you have inspired and / or taught to play better. And i say better, i mean, a lot Better lol

To cover as great and well known of a song as Purple Rain, by such a legendary and inimitable artist as Prince, and do so on an acoustic, and have it be on a 12 string, and write your own solo, and sing it amazingly well, and do it with feeling, AND make it this amazing, and to do it in a single take, with zero editing is absolutely crushing it on soooo many levels. Strong slow clap, and a manly tear in my eye. Mad respect. Bravo

Buddy ... I've loved this song since the day it was released and have been fortunate enough to witness some awesome cover of it but yours is without doubt the single best version I have ever heard since Prince himself and I'm almost 60 years old ... if he is indeed up there looking down on us I feel certain he would say " now that's how to cover a song " ... you made it as individual and unique as Prince always was and truth be known .... I reckon with how modest he actually was, he would've preferred your version.... very very well done !!!
