PRINCE PLAYED OVER 27 INSTRUMENTS ...all of them on his albums , and they say better than anyone...PRINCE was considered to be the best or one of the best guitarist in the world , PRINCE produced and compose his own records with no help from anyone....PRINCE MADE 39 RECORDS...HE also wrote all his songs alone some came to him in dreams ....PRINCES VOICE had huge vocal range from low to high and everything in between ... and the man could dance !!!! TRUELY A ICON AND A MUSICAL GENIUS AND MENTOR TO OTHER MUSICIANS.....YOU ARE HUGELY MISSED AND LOVED !!

robyn Prince DIDN'T play 27 instruments. I mean come on... that was just for advertising his album, but in fact counting every single different keyboard in the studio he touched doesn't mean playing "different instruments". That's still a keyboard and counts as 1 instrument. Etc. Btw. Stevie Wonder plays I guess more than Prince. Add that he's blind. And he's a pro on several instruments (keyboard and harmonica are his def pros). Prince's instrument was guitar. None of the quantities you listed are the reasons why he was great. I mean vocal range? Who thinks it's the vocal range that makes a good singer? The one who knows NOTHING about singing.

Prince definitely deserved all of his wins, because "Purple Rain" was and still is a Legendary Album. Timeless. Looking at the artists that was there that year, puts today's artists to shame! Seriously.

And then some! It's frightening to think how bad the music scene is these days.
@dexterdawson93219 жыл бұрын
John Chisholm Yes, when MJ died, it was like half of the 80's was gone. When Prince is gonna eventually die, it will be like it's all over(the other half will die) and all we would have is these so-called "artists" of today. Some of them are good, but very few. And even the good artists of today don't put great music like it was used to, because music is not made like in the past. Nowadays, everyone makes commercial music, not real music. Even the great artists that remained from the previous decades changed their style and they release commercial stuff. Look at Madonna's music now and compare it with her prime and you will be shocked how different they sound. Almost nobody does music for the art anymore, most do it for money. It's the reason why there aren't many great hits like it used too, music nowadays is not made to be everlasting, it's made to make quick money and then to go to the next single.
@Loakum9 жыл бұрын
Dexter Dawson What you said about Madonna, can definitely also be said about Prince. Listen to Prince's latest music and compare it to his work during the 80's. It's a dramatic difference. Not to mention, Madonna continues to sell millions of albums with every release. Prince hasn't been as fortunate. Prince is currently putting out the most mediocre music of his career.
@dexterdawson93219 жыл бұрын
Loakum I know and that's the thing. Even the great artists we still have are attempting to comercialize their work. Instead of doing it like they used, they don't create art anymore, they are only focusing on the rational and commercial side of music, not on the emotional and/or artistic side. And it undermines their work. Madonna's sales are on a strict decline as well. Hard Candy sold 4 million and her last album from 2012 sold only 2 million. Not that it's not good, financially speaking, but it doesn't compare to Ray of Light(20 million) or to Like A Virgin and True Blue, both reaching 25 million, being the best-selling studio albums of Madonna. The industry has changed and all the artists are going with it. That's why even if they are some great artists out there, it won't be the same. Everything is computerized and almost no one composes songs like they used to. Technology made it possible for music to break through everywhere around the globe and to compose music easier than ever before. Unfortunately, it seems it sacrificed what made music be great and what makes art be everlasting. Labels are going to disappear in about 20 years from now and songs are not as memorable as before. A good tune will be remembered even 5 decades later, but this commercial music of this day and age will not be remembered in a few years after its release. It's release single, make money, it stops making money, go and release another one, rinse and repeat. They turned the music industry into 100% business and 0% music as opposed to 50% business and 50% music.
@jchisholm19689 жыл бұрын
Your right but at the same time I think that talent & inspiration is not there for either the younger or older artists now. It feels like the World has plunged into a new Dark Ages. Except the "daring and...chances" from interacting with people. He wasn't "shy" in the least. Prince sent out orders to all presenters not to touch, speak to or interact with him whatsoever. Jack Blades & Kelly Keagy (from Night Ranger) got those orders as well. They did everything they could to violate them, sitting behind him during the show, patting him on the back & talking to him. Prince is a douche. He thinks quite highly of himself for a pop artist. His skill, soul & artistry would be more evident if he DID take more risks. But as a person, he sounds like a pompous ass & coward...including the drug addiction. His home was mere miles from one of best rehab communities in the world. He denied Weird Al the "privelege" of parodying him (Kurt Cobain was more than flattered at Weird Al's request). I do respect Prince's stance on the internet. I embrace unusual & unique artists & art. Using your crown for philanthropy like Princess Di gains my respect. Not sure why Prince thought anyone wanted to touch or talk to him. I get the impression that there isn't really much substance there, from what he says, in his words, to his music. His actions definitely speak to my point, though. It's all we have to go on, unfortunately.

A few moments that I love from this video... seeing Prince walk onstage behind the Revolution made such a huge statement for him, which continued throughout his career (i.e. "I didn't do this by myself; I'm here to showcase the incredible talent that surrounds me; it's a blessing to be part of something larger than myself..."). And seeing Prince with his "bodyguard," his petite, womanlike frame, but he was the most dominant and masculine man in the entire world, then and always... that resonates with me. And lastly, how Wendy grabbed his hand and spoke on his and The Revolution's behalf... I thought that was incredibly touching, and showed the unbreakable bond they all shared as a band, and as good friends.

Mozart and Beethoven didn’t play Nearly as many instruments as him, on top of having Extraordinary Vocals, could dance in High Heels, or Write and Produce as many songs as he did, I mean he has an Entire Vault of Unheard music that could More than likely make ANY artist today or in the futures songs look like Complete And Utter Sh*t. The more I was told not to listen to Prince music wise as a youth back then, the more I wanted to listen. ..May U live 2 C the Dawn....

reeelup007BKNY reeelup007BKNY Michael Jackson couldn't really win two years in a row, could he? 😑 And actually Lionel won more awards than Prince that year, so if there was a "favourite" that they wanted to see win, it was him. You're also forgetting that Michael Jackson wasn't really welcomed with open arms previous years. Off the Wall was extremely overlooked. Thriller opened up doors for many other black artists.

Yeah cause he was a humble and humorous soul. He knew and want to acknowledge he didn't get there by himself. The Revolution, especially that female she helped rock that album and that band. I thought of her as co-pilot while Prince lead. I was born yrs later but I've come across so much music archives of Prince and the Revolution. Before he went solo he was part of a "team" So I think it's great he did that because after that album he went his own way without them and they pretty much became "dust in the wind" without him. This was pretty much their moment spotlight for the hardwork they put in.
