PURPOSE BRINGS TRANQUILITY | The Word Exposed with Cardinal Tagle (February 4, 2024)
We are on the Fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time; and in today’s gospel, we witness Jesus’s healing of Simon’s mother-in-law and the many others “who were ill or possessed by demons” and “who were sick with various diseases.” This is enough to overwhelm anyone.
Looking at the narrative, we can say that Jesus was a crowd drawer. And what was the reason? Last week, Saint Mark articulated what the people saw in Jesus: He was teaching with authority.
What is interesting in today’s gospel, dear friends, is that Jesus did not stay in one place where he could contain his already frenetic activity. He desired to “go on to the nearby villages that [he] may preach there also.” He had a clear sense of purpose and mission. A clear and compelling direction unifies many tasks and responsibilities.

The lord merely said "let us go on to other villages so that I will preach there because that is the purpose I came".He never said donate to me so I can preach in other villages

What is the purpose of going to church every Sunday? Because I work in the vineyard,I will proclaim that the purpose is to attend and eat in the banquet of the lord.And the food therein is the food that the lord commanded St.Peter to feed his lambs
