I think the biggest issue is this truly distracts from what Jesus was actually talking about with every day life under occupation of the Roman Empire during Emperor Tiberius rule. Tiberius worshipped pagan gods and viewed himself as a living god, which gave a green light of persecution of other religions. There was also all forms of abuse towards non-Roman citizens that started to influence how Jews treated each other and Gentiles. What made Jesus so renown was that he went against that abuse and truly taught treating your neighbors with love and kindness but also making amends with your enemies by breaking bread with them, share a table with them, etc. That is the true purpose of Jesus’s teachings, to live how he lived. You don’t need to bring vintage or exotic cars on stage to teach that. You don’t need a $30 million dollar building to preach when Jesus preached in living rooms.
