The biggest threat I see from AI is cheap labor. When that happens, regardless of whether AI has a positive or negative impact on society, it's going to massively decrease the value of things because of the free market economy. Cheap labor = cheaper stuff. This is great, except that the USA has a ridiculous amount of debt, absolutely insane amounts. While the price of everything and thus the GDP decreases the debt will continue to increase. VERY quickly this will cause the USA to have to default or for other governments to figure out how to rethink the concept of economy in a post-AGI world.

I do like open source but not the idea of super powerful AI being available to say, design a virus, or something like that. We need a global council on AGI, imho
