I’m really digging this song…especially after seeing them perform it live at the Greek Theater! Definitely my favorite song of that night! Why did I wait a month to listen to this album? Holy shit the harmonies w/Carina and Maynard's voice..swoon. This song made me think of the unethical practices used by tech companies, media, fake news, etc. Practices used in an attempt to exploit and confuse the human race, thus turning us into scrolling zombies stripping us of autonomy. Social media tracks and traps you with sneaky algorithms keeping you stuck in an echo chamber worm hole. Though entertaining and gratifying, social media addiction can lead to a false sense of self and control the narrative. Dude, when this album first dropped I didn't quite dig it. But I told myself "maybe I'm just not ready for it" - I had the same experience with APC's first album because I was expecting something similar to Tool. Maybe 2 months later I gave Existential Reckoning another go, start to finish while I was doing yardwork. I specifically remember deciding to sit down and enjoy a beer when this track was playing. That first moment it really hits you is something else!
