Had a close buddy form our crew take his life at 24, I still think about him 20 years later. That phone call at night was terrible, his parents were so unbelievably broken. Years later passing through my old hometown heading to Tahoe for the weekend with my 5-yr son at the time to do some snowboarding, I ran into his folks at the market, as a parent myself I could tell they never will recover. I am in my early 80's now like Louie :) jk but reach out to your homies often and ask how they are doing.

I am very happy to see what Louie is doing here. We need this, not only in skateboarding, but much more within businesses and companies as a whole. We're all emotional beings and behind our strong front and ego identity we all need love, support and connection, especially if we fall on hard times, mentally, emotionally or physically.

I’m so glad Push created a channel. This! What Louie, Ben, and many other skaters go through, is the reason I created my channel. As a therapist who skates, I just want to make videos that can potentially help someone who is struggling, or give them the confidence to speak up about it.

I've had the misfortune of being surrounded by this shit my whole life basically, lost 5 friends to it and been on the brink myself a few times. It's so stupid that we aren't able to really talk about it openly until someone you know is gone, but then again I don't blame anyone because it's a hard fucking topic to talk about and most people don't really know how to tackle it. It hurts to talk about, both for the people suffering and those around them. Crazy that a video about such a serious topic can make leave you with such a good feeling though, so thank you Louie and Josh for this one!

Louie never stops to amaze me with his worldview. This is such a sweet thing to do. I'm wondering if there is also a barrier in having people even want to speak to a therapist in general. Sometimes people don't know they could benefit. It's almost like it would be great if team riders had an annual or biannual meeting set up with the mental health person regardless of whether they requested it or not. Just an informal 1 hour conversation, can't hurt for those who are doing well, but can be paramount for those who arnt. Sometimes just one convo will help get the ball rolling for someone that is stuck in the mindset of "toughing it out." Sadly, people that hold the attitude that they need "toughen up and get through things on their own" are more likely to have depression and are less likely to reach out for help. I lost one of my best friends two year ago, I remember I heard him crying in the patio outside our window one night (we lived together), I went and just hugged him and went back to bed as he didnt seem ready to talk right then. But the next day, he didnt want to talk about it and seemed embarrassed despite my efforts. We never talked about it and never will. People want to maintain a semblance of who they are in other other people's eyes, it shackles them but grounds them too. I think with these people, having a chat with a therapist be something that every rider has to do (even if just once a year), might make them less shielded when they go into that session. Just a thought. Thank you for all the good times and for shinning a light where others often dont! Let us know what brands we can support to help fund Push :)

Going to therapy and learning coping techniques to deal with your mental health is so important. Things I learned there helped me deal with my depression and anxiety, helped when I chose to sober up, and so much more. I lost a friend who I was best friends with for most of my life to taking his own life and It’s been one of the hardest things I’ve had to cope with. I’m so thankful you’re starting such a positive movement that will hopefully prevent others having to feel the pain we have. I’ll make sure to support any way I can.

I love this. This is beautiful. I am and always be a skateboarder. The mind and how I/we see the world is incredible. I haven’t been on my skateboard for quite sometimes now but it’s still with me. It have had a great impact into my life as it goes on. It’s given me so much joy for years until it haven’t given me much joy. The low time happened and it took me a year to go see someone for help, I was about to explode then too. I just want to let everyone know that you’re not alone and if you’re feeling down, so down - I know how you feel. Surrounds yourself with good people, that you can have conversations with about anything, they’re are really important, loving and caring people you can have in life. Thank you Louie, this video will have long lasting impact. So thankful. Send a lot of love and hugs to all

insightful video! I grew up skateboarding in the late 80s and all trough the 90s basically , now I am a "used to skate , now I drink beer" type of guy , skateboarding taught me a lot of things that are obvious to me, but not so obvious to people who never skated ... when everything goes wrong in "real life" back then that was school and your parents, in many ways, skateboarding was there for me many times over

When I don't know how to handle certain things, I skate. I started in 3rd grade and I'm a 32 year old father now. It brings peace and I always thought I would be the old guy that skates until he can't walk anymore and by god, I hope to be him. Push is such a great cause and let's all try to be more open with our friends - call your friend tomorrow and tell him you love him.
