What we’ve learned is that Hermit’s are easily distracted by shiny objects. You diffused the rebellion by offering them hats. Love the energy and theatrics you bring, Ren!

I wonder if the squirtaflora is not intentionally working with sulphur, but is drawing it from the ground as a consequence of gathering nutrients. It stores the harmful substance while maturing, only losing structure and blasting out pure sulphur when it's overripe. If true, this means a skillful chef could carve the sulphur right out of the raw fruit, much like the poison of a pufferfish!

Common name for the plants hould be Sulfungi (Gigacorp explorers who first found it thought it was a fungus because of its bulbous shape, but later examination confirmed it was a flower, hence the "Flora" in its scientific name

The landscape turned out so cool and really plays off the clinical feel of the Gigahut. it's not only alien, but i feel like the pallet would work for a post apocalyptic vibe as well. Also, @13:15 the giant nether portal looks like an Among Us crewmate. I'll never be able to unsee it.

i think, for those plants, a good common name to go with your scientific one would be the Fountain Fruit, or the Geyser Plant, because of how their sulfur jets out the top and into the air, like an organic geyser or fountain (speaking of which: in the future, if you want to, you could showcase that in action with some stained glass panes)

Maybe it's just because I've been playing it recently, but Ren's base is reminding me of the game Mass Effect Andromeda, because of the whole establishing an exoplanet colony on a hostile alien planet theme. Especially the one planet, Kadara, because that planet actually DID have dangerous sulphur pools everywhere.

the problem with the plant is if the seeds are in the sulphur goo that squirts, all the offspring would be trapped in the lowlands, but since the plants are higher than the pools it means that something is moving the seeds to those places, like an animal that feeds of the sulphur pools and then poo the seeds elsewhere.

Going along with another comment that said that maybe the sulfur is an unwanted side effect of the plant having to draw nutrients out of a sulfur-rich environment instead of sulfur being actually necessary to it, and that the spurting is the plant getting rid of the unwanted sulfur -- maybe once it's squirted all the sulfur out, it's actually edible afterwards. The seeds could then be spread in the usual fashion when the plant is eaten by whatever xenofauna exist in that biome.

Here’s my personal pitch for the name for the sulphur plants. If there are aliens native to the planet you’ve landed on, they wouldn’t have named it something scientific, they would have just named it after what they observed. Something like “Sizzle Shooters”, because they’re the plants that shoot sizzling liquid at you. On the other hand, if there aren’t any aliens on this planet, Gigacorp scientists would be the first ones to name and classify them, giving them a super scientific name. Personally, I think a plant that explodes sulphur everywhere is probably closely related to creepers, if you really think about it. Playing around with Latin and sciency names I eventually landed on “Creepus Bulbus”, or Creeper Bulbs in English. Personally, I think Sizzle Shooters is my favourite name.

You could call the sulphur plant a squirting curb for short. I looked it up and pumpkins, melons and cucumbers all come from the genus cucurbitaceous (which is often shortened to cucurbits).It would make sense since the young one is based on melons and the mature one is based on pumpkins.

I think it'd be super cool if the sulfur pit actually caused a bit of damage... maybe a pufferfish could be hidden under it? Or you could have a harming splash potion, (maybe even a lingering one), but that might require complicated redstone; I wouldn't know.

Hmm. I like the last episode's comment suggestion of sulfur melon. The other suggestions in this episode's comments of geyser plant and sulfungi are kinda cool too, along with sulfur bulb. Maybe sulfur pods? "Pods" always sounds alien-ish. The trees look like they might incorporate some kind of chemical reaction with sulfur to achieve their glowing effect, as well.
