One of my favorite things to do is get up super early and listen to music. Watch the sun rises and remember better times. I remember growing up, living, breathing and FEELING the music. Electronic music from a very young age caught my ear. It filled me with wonder. It painted pictures in my head and gave my life a soundtrack. I loved taking the bus downtown and shopping for records. I was a wax head. I would go in and listen to everything. The shop owners all knew me well. There was a morning that stands out in my head. I was about 19 living in my mother's basement as you do at that age. It was about 4am. The sun wasn't up yet and I had been up all night dancing hard. I was a straight edge kid so only weed was involved, zero alcohol. It was a fantastic night. The music was intense and the people were lovely. I remember setting on my couch as the first light of the morning was streaming through the little basement. The smoke from my spliff was raising through the light and beaming down one me. I was going threw my new records and holding the up to the sun admiring their colors, the ones that were colored anyways. Bonzai and moving shadows were my favorite labels at the time. It was pure zen. A high point. A moment in time that stained my soul. The value of living in the moment is something that's easy to forget as we get older. Maybe wake up early af, burn one down and remember!
