I literally watched this interview w a notebook and paused it to look up everything he was talking about. From the rap beefs to the old manager. I even played the album AGAIN as they went thru the track list to hear the songs w the background info in mind. Pusha is an underrated favorite that a lot of lyricism junkies don’t realize are one of their favorites. He’s been in my top 6 all time. Hands down. Best interview for any true hip hop fan to get into 🔥🔥

Facts 👏 👏 👏 I consider myself very well rounded as it relates to music and my favorite genre of music is east coast rap. Admittedly, I cannot recall what I know about Pusha however, I WILL be binging ALL Pusha T on my 2023 Thanksgiving drive of 7.5-8 hr drive fo sho...while I am a bass head (if my rear view ain't trembling, I at happy) I love lyrics. I love words PERIODT!!! * I've been doing the same as you during this interview (fact checking) * thanks for your input 😉
@kickinshxtwlou9689 Жыл бұрын
@@laricewilcox5344 listen…GREAT lyricism w a bassy backdrop is the gift that keeps on giving! He definitely has a recurring theme but he’s lyrical nostalgia for the 90s hip hop heads. Idk if i would tell you to do an 8hr binge (due to repetitive content) I’d suggest breaking it up w some classic Hov, Nas or BlackStarr to balance Pusha’s drug talk with a lil consciousnesses. Trust me, it WILL get repetitive esp if you’re a lyrics junkie like me. But again he’s STILL one of my top 5 “adult contemporary hip hop” lyricists

The perfect example of Nore’s loyalty vs respect question was the situation with Pharrell and Justin Timberlake. While Pharrell may have respected Justin, his loyalty was with the Clipse. Since the Clipse wasn’t being let out of their deal, Pharrell made the decision not to produce any other artists music on Jive. Big difference between respect and loyalty. They’re not the same.

Looking forward to seeing this interview, especially being from the DMV. I will never forget seeing him in local 7/11 a few years back and him speaking w/an admirer of his. She asked him if she can rap for him. He actually allowed her to bring it as he looks on with enthusiasm and delight. I looked on in appreciation of this young man taking that time to do that. Masterful.

This was one of the best solo Drink Champs interviews ever. Pusha T and his infinity to Mobb Deep was everything plus he’s the first rapper I heard mention the Mid Atlantic region which starts in NC and going north into Virginia.

This is really the time where the culture has to understand that next to hiphop being super commercial, pop and youth driven it has also reached the level that jazz has and pusha is really tappin into that and opening up that part of the culture which is the most important in my opinion

BIG FACTS!
@devindobson70642 жыл бұрын
You said a lot here and I would agree if Pusha were commercially successful. He's not. He isn't bridging gaps because his music doesn't sell to a cross section of the public.
@wrnr_mn2 жыл бұрын
@@devindobson7064 yeah thats what i meant by "the culture has to understand" which implies the audience,the sales and ultimately perception of hiphop and what it can still become...there has to be another level of cultivation and consumption. But actually i believe his numbers are doing quite well so that might just be happening

Definitely a fan of both Drake and Push, but I appreciate Push’ sincerity and realness. If he’s not rocking with someone, he’s not rocking with them, period. There’s obviously something that happened behind the scenes, where he felt extremely disrespected & the public is just going to have to respect his judgement and trust the fact that he knows EXACTLY what he’s doing. Reasons why he’s gotten so far in his career 🙌🏼 Definitely a quality I can respect and appreciate 💯 Hoping they can come to some type of mutual respect one day 🙏🏼

As a professional chef and lover of Hip Hop I don't think people realize when he says " Jean-Georges reservations, I'm dyin' to eat " _ open air _ reference a 2012 interview from to Die For in Vancouver in which the chef speaks openly about many things one of which is the death of a fellow Chef that committed suicide because he didn't get his second Michelin star. Also the phrase "It's to die for" is often used when speaking of food on the Michelin star level. Another fun fact is that it's also one of pushers favorite restaurants he in particularly likes the seafood. I just think it's cool that he's a real foodie and throws these things in there. Just like on Daytona the song infrared he says "we don't do vegetables we welcome the beef and hit you with flat irons"
