Ngonidzashe Rungano People will flock to what’s fake all the time. What’s popular and what seems important will always appear that way to the untrained mind and there’s nothing you or I can do about it. A man who keeps his word for the sake of truth and honor is more admirable than a man who lies and fakes for money, power and respect. No one is going to pat you on the back for being honest and authentic but yourself and the other true real ones, YOU have to believe in that truth because it’s the only thing that really exists. Fake is fake. It does not exist. That’s God’s peace. It’s not Jay’s original line, he took it from A Course In Miracles, but it still speaks volumes in this song. It moved me.

If you’re living your truth you have absolutely nothing to worry about because the truth will stand the test of time, but if your a fraud or try to tell a lie on someone who is authentic you can’t hurt them with fiction because they live in reality not fantasy. So everything you say will fall on deaths ears and no existent to someone who lives there truth.

The layers of meaning that HOV can put into just one line has to be his greatest skill. I'll listen to one of his songs a hundred times and catch 2 or 3 meanings only to find another meaning to it years later. His use of entendres is absolutely unparalleled and iconic. The difference references, the different layers and the fact that everything in this verse is 💯 fact makes this an amazing verse and arguably one of the best he's done. 27 years into the game and he'll still eat up a beat like he's starving.

What separates jayz from a lot of other rappers is you see everything he raps about. He’s not putting random words together for rhymes sake. All of this stuff is real and can be verified. The pic of him in a Benz back in the 80’s. Transitioning to legitimate businesses (rocafella, rocawear), Employee stubs (tidal, roc nation), 40/40 club, opening studios (bass line studios). The part about Emory Jones doing time. Life made him ambidextrous (lucky lefty, able to use both hands, he’s awkward he boxes lefty..etc). The news clip about him being a former drug dealer is the icing on the cake. Even if another rapper is able to match him lyrically, he separates himself with his realness. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a rapper who’s raps and real life match up this perfectly
