Worked on lots of these things when I lived in PA. Ariens and Simplicity are the best machines overall.

I used to love Simplicity but they have changed hands a few times now and there aren't many dealers left. Their Signature Series still have the same heavy duty tubular chassis they've been using since the early '80s. Very solidly built but I don't like the electric chute controls they now have, which are prone to failure. The lesser models are old Murray designs that are mediocre at best.

You really get a sense of how hard the snow is when you break out the shovel.

Early 90’s as well. Didn’t go bad till around 94-98. Depending on the model and if you’re briggs was made in China or not

@@jeffb8562 this Machine has been Excellent , Mine has the old HM 80 Tecumseh Snow King Engine , Things sure went south for Ariens and others when the old Tecumseh went Belly up in 2009 from what I understand the LCT engines who manufacture and represent the Tecumseh/Lauson Name are doing ok nowadays

@@NorthernMaineProductions LCT is the remnants of Tecumseh, still an American company but manufacturing overseas. A lot of people have come to like the new engines for their smoothness, quietness, economy, and easy starting compared to the old L-heads.
