Follow through is not pushing.. snapping is also awkward. I think words are not good at describing physical movements. What I think they mean that your arm should fly out like a whip. Begginers tend to over emphasis the pull which kills there follow through. To follow through on the snap requires you to try and time the explosive extension to end THROUGH the target not on the surface of the target. The idea comes from the fact that acceleration is more heavily weighted in determing the amount of force in the F=MA formula since mass is an intrensic quality there is generally more to be gained from going faster. You also have to consider the formula for pressure which involves time ( cant remember it off the top of my head. ) if you increase contact time you may impart more momentum on the object, but the goal is trauma, which is peak force in the shortest time. Someone who is better at math may explain it better, but essentially 100lbs of force in .5 a sec is more than twice as damaging as 200lbs of force in 1 sec.
