Becky, I told my parents ( 82 & 83yrs old) about you and they just love watching your video’s. I went o their house one Saturday afternoon and they were watching you, my father paused the video turned around to me and said, “How does she do that all? I get exhausted just watching her.” 😂 I think my sister and I have both of them hooked on you and your video’s. Thank you 😊. Becky

Hi Becky, one of the main things I love when we're in the kitchen with you is that you get ALL the ingredients out of the bowls of whatever you're cooking or mixing! I hate food waste, and it drives me crazy when most cooks leave ingredients in the bowls or mixer. Thank you for taking the time to scrape out all those food ingredients on air❤

Have you heard of putting a pool noodle between the wall and the washer and dryer? It stops stuff falling down the back and sides and you can cut them to size. You can also cover them in some pretty fabric if you don't like the colours of the noodles. Works a treat.

Becky, now that you have a south facing backyard and huge field, consider putting up a sun-drying rack for the laundry. It isn't that common in the States as far as I know, but here in Spain we have a lot of sun hours throughout the year and it's really common. The sun is a much more environmentaly friendly option for drying your cloths and not only does it save you money, but it also leaves a nice refreshing scent on your landry and the sun is a natural bleacher and steriliser. Just turn your dark clothes inside out and you won't have any problems. Appart from those obvious reasons, I think the view from your porch with your garden beds full of greens and some bed sheets moving with the wind in a rack would be incredibly relaxing. I know laundry is so tedious and this option takes more time than the drier, but think about it :)

In Australia it is also the normal. It is Rare to have a house or even a unit that does not have one. Even on verandah’s plus also 1-5 to share as a building. Yeah don’t know what I’d do without the good old hills hoist ( that’s the name for them in Australia 🇦🇺) I would say maybe 1/5 ppl in Australia have a dryer versus a clothes line.
@brandiehammond Жыл бұрын
Most southern states here in the United States will do this, as they have more sunlight and hotness that can dry them. Where she’s at in Washington State , it’s the Pacific Northwest and the areas do not get enough sun like Texas, Arizona, New Mexico etc. Washington is known for raining literally every day for days on end and can get pretty flooded. It would be a waste of putting them out and literally half hour later it’s pouring rain.

A tip for cleaning the microwave - pour 1:1 ratio of white vinegar to water into a pyrex liquid measurement 2 cup holder - microwave for 5 minutes, and then let it sit for 5 minutes - the steam does all the hard work for you and you just need to wipe out -- vinegar smell does dissipate.

If you didn't cold stratify your lavender, you probably won't get very good, if any germination. Lavender seeds need that cold to germinate. Put them between 2 damp paper towels in a zip lock bag in the fridge for 2-3 weeks, then plant them in seed trays. Or plant them outside in the fall before the first frost and they will germinate the following winter.

Hey Becky, I have a suggestion garden wise. I have gardened for over 30 years and I live in Salem, Oregon. I have always had good luck doing raised beds made from cinder blocks and every time I started new beds I followed my grandpa's method: planting tarp, small pebbles, river bottom, steer manure and top soil. I would always have pumpkins, corn and tomatoes trying to invade our neighbors yard.

Hello! Queen of summer savoury here! The 1st couple of sprouts can appear a bit leggy but it should correct itself… it doesn’t like being transplanted so growing it in something that allows for minimal root disturbance is best. Going back and watching old videos....I have a hydrovac and I just love it. One thing I did was choose the corded model bc it seems like cordless models run out of charge for me, and I don't want to have to wait to recharge something to complete the task. I always vacuum and then dust mop prior to using bc we have a long-haired rescue cat who runs the show at our house. Sounds a little counterintuitive, but I think that the less I have to clean out of the vac at the end, the better. I want my hydrovac spotless when I go to use it again. I have to say, I am one of those OCD people that wash the dishes prior to putting them into the dishwasher. For anyone who is thinking of buying a hydrovac, I think it is a very wise investment.

I recently discovered your vlog. I love the down-to-earth presentation, and how you're always learning yet also forgiving of yourself in doing the best with what you know/have. You are an inspiration in so many ways. I'm in a chapter of life that makes me a repetitive renter (I'll find my "forever home" soon), and I always do as you're doing: routinely loving on your home to handle the little things. It makes a big difference either when company visits or move-out day comes. I have weekly, monthly, and seasonal chores I do so I'm only a few days away from perfect at any time. Letting those little messes and nuisances build up really does drain you, one way or another. I'm also loving your recipes and food storage techniques. I swear my kitchen & pantry supplies occupy half the truck each time I move! Because I am such a rolling stone, I don't always find myself living someplace with easy access to favorite foods and flavors. So I taught myself how to make them and preserve certain components that allow me to make even my more exotic dishes on a whim.

Love your kitchen, especially your open shelves! Again girl, my head is spinning watching you! You are expecting way too much of your self! A weekly cleaning service is invaluable when you have a new baby! 😅With my first 2 kids, I wore myself out trying to keep my house clean and in order. Later I realized the house can wait, my kids are only this age once. Love my animals in the house, but they were confined in mud room until they were wiped and became dry. I raised my family on 25 acres in rain country. My kids had outside overalls and mud boots that they took off in the mud room. Love your energy and fantastic knowledge😸 Im learning a lot of fun things from you even though I am a seasoned homemaker over twice your age! I’m wanting to try the no-kneed crock-pot bread. I like to use organic non-GMO products, and I grind my grains. I try to eat very little meat. I hope I can give you a few tips. LAUNDRY😳 🙃🌻 wow! Less is better in washer and dryer. Also, do not fill washer more than 3/4 full. Sort all laundry; by weight, color, temperature; such as bath towels only, kitchen rags and towels only, jeans together, delicates together, baby clothes only. In my day I used mostly cloth diapers #50. I soaked and double washed and extra rinsed 2-3x week. I washed 2-3 loads of laundry per day! Baby clothes need to be washed daily, other wise you will have ruined spit -up milk stains. It is nothing to put a load in a couple of times a day! I just purchased a beautiful indoor out door washable area rug…thought that wold be great for your sun room you were moping. Also get good washable door runners to wipe paws and feet …..open type dog fence with gate by that door to corral dogs until they dry feet and coat, 🐾😸🐈⬛would save you so much cleaning. You are doing a great job girl…..just remember there is always tomorrow….so take time for you and your precious little one💜💕❤🌸😸🙏🐈⬛ *my sight is bad so please forgive my mistakes here🧐

The previous owners of our house tore up the backyard to redo it, and then ended up having to sell before they got much done, and the drought was so bad last year, we just never put in grass. Luckily my dog has short fur, and so she doesn't bring in a whole lot of dirt, except for the first few weeks after the snow melts and the mud is so sticky.

Here is a suggestion -- consider purchasing mesh bags -- on Amazon -- they can be used for laundry -- you will never "loose" another sock -- from a pair -- washer and dryer -- I use a mesh bag per person so everyone has their own and can fold their own socks. Additionally, I use mesh bags for delicates so they are in the washer but will not be ruined. Mesh bags have many uses for laundry -- I also use them for travel to just place soiled laundry in them and then just place them in the washing machine when I get home. Enjoy!

I’m like you Becky I don’t mind washing drying but I dislike putting it all away. You’ve done amazing today all your chores are finished and you have a lovely clean home. Well done Becky

Our young chickens are still in our garage here in Texas since the cold front came through and we briefly got down to 38 degrees today's high is 53. They are young enough still which helps and so are our transplants for our garden until we are sure the last frost has occurred. Just got an email this morning that my Grow Towers are on their way. Thank you again for this. Can't wait to get my strawberry roots to plant in one and the other for herbs! 😊 When we painted I went and looked out our office window which has wood blinds guess what I still have to paint inside the wood frame. It happens to all of us. We love our Bissell Wet vacum for our tile floors. You had a beautiful snowfall backdrop against your evergreens. I so feel the same way when having to thin out my seedlings. I did try to transplant them and some took off and some did not so it wasn't a total waste. Yes Resets always feel better and set a great mood going forward! God Bless!

Ok well that was the funniest thing I've seen in a while. The laundry retrieval. 😂 I needed a laugh today, but as always so much good info.

Thanks Becky! I got the great deal on the GreenStalk, plus the combo rolling/swivel bottom.

Becky I’m laughing so hard. I just got a new dryer and the stuff I found behind it was shocking lol. Thank you for getting me into canning. I have missed it. Did it with my mom when I was young. God bless you and your family. 🙏
