Arrow shafts work great! Cheap as beans for quality carbon fiber tube.

Hi . I have done the same thing but instead of using a bunch of epoxy I take a short piece of dowel and groove the side then slide it into the arrow shaft with epoxy works great

I have also used the dowel for this purpose, which is a good method. Thank you for mentioning it. I will showcase this in an upcoming video. Rick

I have a question why not cut a slot in a wooden plug to put at the end that pushes that servo wire all the way against the carbon fiber which would require much less epoxy and be a much stronger joint you just put the plug in the hollow part of the carbon fiber tube with a slot. The size of the metal rod going down the side of it so as to give enough room for the ride inside the hollow tube and then the wooden plug takes up the rest of the space with the epoxy filling in the voids between everything and locking it all in is a solid piece I think you will find that doing it that way they will be lighter because you will use much less epoxy and epoxy is heavy and you can use lightweight wood. You don't have to use hardwood. You could even use balsa wood and it would work just fine

Thank you for suggesting the alternative method for installing the piano wire into the rod blank. I have fabricated the pushrods using your described method countless times, and I plan to demonstrate it in the future. The only reason I changed my approach for this build was that I wanted the pushrod wire to exit from the center of the rod blank. I know I can get a bit obsessed with these details sometimes... lol.

@@rcflyingwithrick if the rod being in the center is your only reason for doing it that way just bend a little offset right past the carbon fiber and the rod will be in the center...

The wire can be bent into any desired shape. When creating a wooden plug for the rod, it will be secured using epoxy. I've streamlined the process by eliminating the time spent on fabricating the wooden plug. Essentially, you can skip that step and simply mix the epoxy to install the wire directly. If weight savings are a critical concern, you might consider using a balsa wood plug. However, the Sweet & Low wing loading can accommodate the current setup. Ultimately, both methods are effective.

You can buy blanks in bulk, and you don't have to do any work to get them ready.

👍 for sure another way to purchase the blanks, thank you for the comment. Rick
