While I was at one of Engcon's recent demo days here in Calgary, I figured I might as well mic up Sean and have him explain some of the benefits of using tilt rotators.

Why are these not used often in the United States but seem to be used more in other parts of the world?

In the European countries, they have a tendency to travel machines via roadway than transport as jobs are typically within close proximity. Another aspect is tight streets where room for larger pieces on Lorry's limits locations, it costs money to tow. 3rd is versatility you can move more, faster and with more efficiency than a tracked equivalent

@@13eckerlosmuerte I think he more so meant the use of tiltrotators, not wheeled hoes. Over here in Canada they're becoming more and more common, but still not nearly as common as over in European countries. The benefits of rototilts are huge. You'd figure if you're picking out a half a million or million dollar machine, you'd want the top of the top on it. Something useful for all applications. Coming to deep deep mainline, frost layers in the colder climates, and everything of that sort, I can see why they stray away. But when it comes to residential and commercial utilities, foundational work, etc. the rototilts are wicked.

as a swedish operator. You rarely see an excavator here without a rototilt. Noone would hire you because the job would take forever and need more personell. I Think i comes down to culture and tradition. Americans seems to want it to be as it always has been. THey were invented here in the 80s. Because USA is 30 years behind EU in terms of machinery. 90% of new excavators come straight with tiltrotators attached in Scandinavia, only quarry machines go straight to boom installed bucket, all other have quickhitches, tiltrotators, 3D systems. Same applies to forestry, USA is so backwards in terms of that.
