It's treated as income, which it is. Hence, it is taxed as income. Same thing with making interest on money in a savings account. Once you exceed a certain amount, it's taxable, despite the money used to make that interest already having been taxed. Income is taxed for all sorts of reasons, and it's a good thing. At the end of the day you still won a jackpot, so that's still awesome.

1000% right on the walkway limit. One time I put $100 in a $50 a spin machine and figured I was throwing it away, hit for $1600 on second spin wheel of fortune, moved over to the next machine and hit for 3 red 7s it was $3200 I believe. Long story short however much I had didn’t matter because by the end of the night it was all gone. Few years back, I had the flu. I told the guys I was leaving. Was dizzy so sat down and played a machine so as not to take up space. Pulled three times and wouldn't you know it ? Great job. I like to keep some hundreds ready for hot machines. When I hit big, I print it out and replace with the cash slowly but resist putting the ticket back in.....this seems to help.
