I enjoyed this! My husband and I were both in the Army when he proposed. We had only been dating about a 3 weeks. . He was kind of shy then and didn’t talk much (after God called him to preach, he talked all the time to anyone). This is how he proposed- he said “I’d ask you to marry me, but you’d probably say no.” I told him to go ahead and ask. He did and I said yes. The meanness in me wanted to say no, but I was afraid he wouldn’t ask again. He took me to the jewelry store there on the Army post in Germany and told me to pick out any ring I wanted up to a real good price. I picked out matching turquoise and coral sterling silver bands. He looked at me like I was crazy and asked if I was sure. Started showing me all these diamonds, but I only wanted the turquoise band. We were married almost 41 years when God called him home this past June. My marriage advice would be to put God first in your life and at the center of your marriage.
