Trust me, baking soda actually really works on plants that have LOTS of pesticides on them and All the plants in my Mom's garden grew so fast within 3 days. I only used it ONCE with 1 tablespoon of baking soda and 3 and 1/2 cups of tap water. I was so shocked that the squash seeds that I seeded in the little potting grew so freaking fast after I sprayed the baking soda water!!!! Surprisingly my Mom told me it was very Luscious! Oh my Goodness! Thank GOODNESS!!! It is Unbelievably Beautiful to SEE and know this solution and SUCH A Relief, such a FREAKING Relief!!! Because, boy oh boy, those little pests were so MUCH to deal with! Yes, use baking soda water on the soil and leaves that have those micro-sized pests, Once a week. I am going to try this for my own Head hair Once every week too (PINCH of baking soda and Himalayan pink sea salt into a cup of water). Keep up the Healing FAITH, GRATITUDE JOURNAL, and PRAYERS, because that was what I did daily! Good LUCK and Sovereignty Remain with All! Thank you ALL for the Healing Truth.

Half of these if not all are wrong. Hydrangeas and the rest of the plants you mentioned need acidic soil because they have iron deficiency isues. Raising the pH will worsen this. If you want to drop the pH of the soil use sulfur that is especially made for this reason. Most fertilizers have a little of sulfur in them for that reason. Best solution buy fertilizers especially for these plants. If you want sweeter tomatoes, or sweeter and tastier fruits (with the general meaning of fruit) just add potassium. It will make your flowers produce more flowers and your fruits tastier. The amonia solution works because of ammonia which is mainly Nitrogen and not baking soda. Nitrogen is the main element your plants need to make leaves branches etc and look healthy. The oil+baking soda mix works because of the oil that bothers the insects and not because of the baking soda. Petroleum derived oils are used most of the time but plant oils work too although in a much less better way. Last but not least. Horticulture, in my country is 5 years of studying in the university. Do you think you can bypass it by a few hours reasearch and a 3,5 minutes video. Come on now.

first of all remember that these people are making money out of this (there is an add at the 10sec mark). yes they don't take it from you, but still, earning money from spreading wrong information and bro-science is wrong. even they say at the notes that you shouldn't take their advice seriously and always seek advice from the approrpiate source. Another point is that Agriculture is a science. A very beaudiful, complex science and one with the most difficult chalenges the planet is facing at the moment, feeding an evergrowing population. If you think that a video advising to throw baking soda at your plants can substitute my 5 years of studying and experimenting you can understand easily that you are wrong and that this mindset makes this science cheap. Yes i understand that as an amature gardener you need advice, info and tips and tricks but that's why your local agriculturist is for. go to your local plant nursery and ask for that. or visit web pages that offer such kind of information with a scientific and responsible way. there are also other youtubers and vloggers that provide such information, but they are also professionals. Throw banana peels and egg shells at your plants is cheap information with cheap results. you get what you pay. Last but not least, i understand the "good intentions" feeling you try to support but also mind the foolowing, if you ask me for directions to a place and i pose as someone that has answers and give you information that might or might not be real and may or may not get you to your destination, would you still be thankful i tried to help?? even though i did this on purpose? think about it, this video has given false information to about half a million people.

.... baking soda is SODIUM bicarbonate. Yes, it is helpful in super small amounts, but increased salt in the soil kills everything, not just weeds. Then you have to flush and farrow your whole garden for 2 years min to recuperate.... baking soda is not recommended. To adjust pH there are natural ways to do so without adding salt. Don't over salt your plants. Even chemical ferts add salt and need to be flushed around once or twice a season.

Andrea Dutchover-Reynolds: Your comment implies that everything we add to soil adds “table” salt (sodium chloride) as well which is absolutely untrue and nonsensical. On the other hand if you are referring to the chemical category known as “salts” there are many thousands of these, some beneficial to plants, some not so much. I’ve personally never seen a fertilizer that contained table salt (NaCl) so I wonder if you could clarify your use of the word salt to avoid misleading people who are not chemists or horticulturists and who might be looking for simple gardening advice. Thanks.

I followed a stupid KZbin tip to use cooled water that eggs had been boiled in on plants and I seem to have killed a lupin. My sister said that's because lupins need acidic soil and the calcium from the eggshells are alkaline. I'm sceptical about KZbin gardening tips now
@eltoyongardener56583 жыл бұрын
I thought hydrangeas thrive on acidic soil. That is what I have always known. Naturally when the soil became alkaline as this video suggested, it became sickly. Go to your nursery store and ask for fertilizer for acidic plants. Hopefully your hydrangea will recover. It's a waiting game too. If your hydrangea is in a pot, put it in a shade.
@elizabethkademian27893 жыл бұрын
Maybe you can remove them from soil that is not good, wash the roots and plant in the new, clean soil. But leave them in the shaded area for while until you see they dont need a life support, then leave them in the partly sunny, not too much sun. I hope they will come back to life. If it doesn't work, you have to buy new ones or start from seeds (very easy). They will germinate in about a week or so. Good luck.

The soil is depleted of minerals usually. Epsom salt, molasses and minerals cause plants to grow like crazy, also fully raw organic milk can cause more blooms but not a lot of it or it could cause a little overwhelming the plant. Most weeds are good for food. I don’t use baking soda. I have used diluted vinegar but it has to be very diluted. Boiling hot water kills grass or whatever it is you are wanting to get rid of. But whatever that hot water touches is what it kills.

B. Eder hat die
@BetterDeadThanRed997 жыл бұрын
In the western US - bicarbonates are a common problem for hard-water irrigation. It is well known that bicarbonates are (next to table salt) the worst thing you can add to your soil, especially if your native soils are already alkaline. Blight is a very common problem - as are aborted flowers - stunted growth - chlorosis and necrosis of leaf tissue... the list goes on and on. That is why many western farms treat their irrigation water with phosphoric and sulfuric acid (or something like MPP or even acidified nitrogen compounds) to reduce the carbonate hardness (abbreviated ' KH ') and bring the pH close to neutral before watering their crops with the well water.
@BetterDeadThanRed997 жыл бұрын
Flush your soil with good quality water a few times, (rainwater is the best) supplement with gypsum like you said and some iron chelate and the problem will go away.
@lindaleone81467 жыл бұрын
B. Eder it is highly unlikely that the baking soda caused your blossom end rot
@BetterDeadThanRed997 жыл бұрын
Linda Leone, actually it is VERY likely sodium bicarbonate directly caused his blossom end rot. Bicarbonates lock up available calcium, magnesium, iron copper, zinc, and phosphorus - which directly causes blossom end rot. pH is a 'logarithmic scale' and the overwhelming majority of plants do not like highly alkaline conditions - especially tomatoes - preferring slightly acidic soil conditions of around ~6.5. A pH of 7.5 is 10 times more alkaline than a pH of 6.5 and a pH of 8.5 is 100 times more alkaline!!! Baking soda has a pH of about 9. Plants DO NOT enjoy living in an environment where the majority of their nutrients are locked out and simply unavailable to the plant. This is basic chemistry. It has been known for a very long time to farmers in the western US in places like Colorado and Utah. Iron chlorosis is the first sign of trouble - followed by blight, blossom end rot, spotted leaf necrosis, and 'tuber disease' responsible for the hard dark spots that develop inside of potatoes. All of these problems are quite common in the west due exclusively to our aquifers having a very high level of "carbonate hardness" (KH). Add baking soda to your garden and you are guaranteed to have all of these problems and then some.
