Excellent. Been to P-I-B dozens of times, including just last year around this time. Wonder if you used another video source to get shots, like the inside the bridge on the Jet boat, or at the "merry-go-round" on PIB itself. As a National Monument/park, did you require special permission to shoot Perry's monument? I've been up there on the 350 ft. high observation deck many times, including last year. In one of the last parts of your vid, you show an area I'm familiar with with the birds floating on the water, as the sun sets. Were you just hovering in place at that point? Whenever I go to PIB, I take Miller's Ferry and my bicycle. Did you bring your car onto the Jet Express, or do you have a hardshell case for your bird which you used to transport? How'd you get around on the Island? Rent a golf cart? (short time rental fees aren't too bad, but for an extended time they can cost quite a bit .. which is why I always bring my bike .. years ago I brought my rollerblades on one trip there as well). If anyone hasn't every been to PIB, the NEED to go .. it is so cliche' Tourist Trap-y that it is endearing. Glad you had good weather for your shoot, as weather can change there in a flash (of lightening). Cheers.

I spent 2 nights on Kelley's Island, took car on Ferry there. Jet Express is a people mover only. So left Kelley's to PIB on the Express with drone in hardshell backpack, and a brand new DJI OSMO handheld gimbal video camera :-) Never flew over National Park land, as that is a no-no. Walked on PIB, had car on Kelley's. Upcoming videos, 2 quarry's, glacial grooves, and more :-)

I've been to PIB a couple times for drone pics but never video. Outstanding editing. Something I need to learn to do.

Great video! My question is, where did you launch the drone from, so that you weren’t hassled by law enforcement and lookyloos? Every time I fly in a populated area, I get one or both! Not sure where to stand on that island while the bird is in the air, that doesn’t belong to the state/feds.?
@DroneOhio5 жыл бұрын
Nick Miller It's usually not a problem, just launch from a quiet public place. It's all G airspace, but you need to understand both islands have a small airstrip. The monument grounds are a national park, but I was never on or over the park. I've never run into any law enforcement that had an issue, they're usually intrigued by the Drone. Follow DRONE OHIO on Facebook, you'll see I fly alot of fun places.

Did you have to get any special permission to fly there? I wanna fly but I'm not sure with the airports nearby.
@DroneOhio7 жыл бұрын
400 feet and below, you are in class G airspace, thus no permissions needed. However, anytime you fly, you have to be aware of any small local airstrips like the one on Put-in-Bay, and "see & avoid" any potential manned aircraft.
