Russia already has a severe problem with their worker/pensioner ratio. Too many pensioners and not enough workers. So while the young men killed in action is terrible for Russia, the fact that tens of thousands of them are permanently disabled in the war. So this not only eliminates a worker, but it basically adds them as a pensioner at the same time. Russia is going to have 40 years of disabled vets collecting benefits.

I raised the question of a soldier coming back from the front on a railway train from Kramatorsk to Kyiv. He and I shared some friendly talk beforehand. The train was packed with soldiers going to get some rest as well as others who were girlfriends of men and relatives. This was July of 2023. If you don't ask the questions, often, nothing gets done that is necessary. The question, which I knew the answer to, as many did, was "[w]hy can't Ukraine take out the Kersh Bridge?" I then mentioned the good reason to destroy it. I mentioned that Ukraine didn't have the weapons to do it. The Kersh Bridge is too far. I did mention the truck bomb and the surfboard drones that had caused significant damage. I didn't suggest that maybe Kyiv didn't want to completely destroy it. My better guess was Ukraine didn't have the long range ATACMs and the other long-range missiles from Britain and France or not enough of them to destroy the Kersh Bridge. Ukraine needs more air defense systems that work well because when Ukraine decides to "once and for all," which is how I phrased my question to the soldier, act to destroy the Kersh Bridge, Ukraine will need these air defense from what will likely be the response that will target all of Ukraine. The other soldiers had heard my question and interfered with the young soldier's response. I wonder what his response might have been. Everything was secret and it still is.

Russia is on the attack.In classic military terms the casualties can be estimated to be at least 3 times that of Ukraine.So maybe 300,if Ukraine are well entrenched and determined then maybe even half that.Reckon a loss rate of about 4-1 to be conservative.Thats also if Russia was a competent military force with high troop morale,which it isnt.Its could be possible that in some attacks,Ukraines losses might be even LESS,as they will use artillery and mines and concentrated fire,it could even be as low as 8-1.They are destroying every Russian unit they put against them.

Rather than getting all twisted about 900/ day or whatever the actual number is, what is not in dispute is that Russia has lost most of it's best armour in what was supposed to be a week long campaign. They are now using ATVs to do what armour should be doing. The Ukrainians have shown themselves to be adaptable in the face of the so called second best army in the world. When the US starts sending the 60 BILLION in aid to Ukraine , Russia will have to face the reality of modern arms from the US that actually work.
