@@bryandimery6509 it's worth having a look at the Ukraine Support Tracker which has accurate and high quality information about which countries are supporting Ukraine. During various periods of time Europe has spent more on supporting Ukraine than the US has. It's a complex picture with some European countries spending vastly more than others. Norway for example which has a lot of financial resources, has spent vastly more as a percentage of GDP than for example the UK which is having a tough time economically. Let me take this chance to thank the American people for supporting Ukraine and in doing so helping to protect the rest of Europe. It's not said often enough that we in Europe appreciate this help.

"Nations invoking fear of sanctions or prioritizing trade at any cost will inevitably face repercussions sooner rather than later, in terms of psychological impact in fact it's already having an effect on them and they don't realise it despite their misguided convictions. The perceived threat of economic disruption and the specter of nuclear conflict present a straightforward solution: rather than resorting to nuclear arms in attempts to isolate and disempower nations like Russia through ideological manipulation and economic climate sabotage, a more prudent approach would be to deliberately precipitate an economic crash. Let the disruption serve as a stark lesson to those attempting to contain and destabilize other nation's economy. It may be conventional wisdom for the uninitiated that all sanctions should be complete and total from day one. That’s not how the Force works. You have to be able to continue to ratchet up the pressure as time goes on. There is also the very real situation that because Russia’s economy and exports were so globally integrated not the least with Eastern Europe. Time was needed to provide Europe and other countries with alternative sources before turning the thumb screws any further. So we will continue to see a ratcheting of the sanctions pressure against Russia. When Russia, if Russia ever changes course, then those sanctions can be reduced in a stepwise process. Good behavior will be rewarded by reducing the sanctions pressure. These sanctions will definitely be a part of any peace deal with Ukraine. That’s the other important aspect to keep in mind. Sanctions are not only a punishment and a disincentive for bad behavior. Sanctions will be on the table if and when there is a peace deal to be had in Ukraine

I finished this comment at another KZbin Channel when I immediately came across this title and discussion: "Russia hasn't been good on the offense since Stalin pushed the Nazi's out of russia and all the way to Berlin. Since World War II, russia has mostly been really good at defense. They lost in Afghanistan. But russia has been really good at "cold war" and being on the defense. We know how good the russians at defense from when Ukraine attempted their counter offense last summer. There is a history of russia's giving up, i.e. Afghanistan and the collapse of the Eastern Block. What Ukraine wants is to speed up the russian collapse on the eastern front. It took so long for the Eastern Block to collapse along with the Berlin Wall, but the West was not in a hot war then as Ukraine is in a hot war currently. It should be expected that with (1) the sanctions, (2) the Ukrainian heavy attacks on oil refineries, (3) the tremendous loses of russian lives and in military equipment, (4) the Black Sea Fleet's limited area of maneuvers, (5) the poor leadership of russian generals, (6) the failures of putin, (7) the free world against him, (8) the necessity to rely upon North Korea for help, ((9) the moral decay of the leadership of russia and their short term denial of war crimes, the kidnapping of children, and the eventual realization of payments of reparations, which they are now learning about since interests from their assets are going to be going to Ukraine, the problems inside russia that are not being address, should make putin an outcast in russia, and as such, by his inner circle. Expect a real bloodletting among his senior staff before his demise comes about."

Mostly I think T.G. Ash is right on the money. If anything he is being polite in his analysis of western (London Frankfurt, to an extent, New York) role in disguising Russian financial strategies.

The continue of sactions against russia should be link to how long russia continue the war in Ukraine. So if this war continue for five years, then the sanctions stay another five years. There must be a cost on russia for this horrible war and it would force other countries to think about the cost before thye invade other countries
@bruceradz3 ай бұрын
The war lasts five years, the sanctions last for ten years, double the length of the sanctions. That would give anyone a scare before starting an armed conflict

Ruskies dont have the cash to fight for more than 6 months,. Their reserves are running out. This man didn't read the latest ruskie financial report. The reserves are running out. Sanctions are working. The ruskie attempts to evade the sanctions have meant increased costs. Their allies are selling for a big profit to russia.

Loosing Ukraine war may also weaken the position of western principle of rule of law, human right and free trade.
@JesterEric3 ай бұрын
Western rule of law is seen as hypocritical at best. Israel, Iraq, Libya, Serbia, Syria et al.
@Withnail19693 ай бұрын
Well we don't have free trade. We are putting up lots of tariff barriers and we banned Huawei equipment from our phone networks on dubious 'security' grounds. As for the rule of law and human rights I'm sure a well known recently freed prisoner will have lots to say about those, none of if favourable.
