The Russian Navy's Baltic and Pacific fleets wintered in New York and San Francisco, respectively and saved the American lives. Actually, The United States was never in World War II. That war was between European countries and never involved us until the bombing of Pearl Harbor. The Allies asked us for help and we did send some techniclal asss early in that campain. But, we never intended to get involved in the First and second world period.

Of course the war is still ongoing and Putin can say whatever he likes. I don't think one starts a war against a neighbor solely for disrespecting a world leader. And Russia didn't so much help the US in WW2, they helped themselves just as well. Germany would have taken Russian territory if the crazy one wasn't stopped. Their actions during WW2 don't necessarily mean anything, although of course they did help! This conflict also had been brewing for much much longer than 2022, there was 2014 and how did that happen? We are to believe it just happened randomly by accident? That would be very very stupid! Putin has no problem playing Trump to get a temporary peace deal and be allowed to permanently annex Ukrainian territory in the process. Being allowed to permanently annex territory is a Russian win and Putin is smart enough to keep his eyes on the price.
