Putin will not agree any deal that gives Ukraine security guarantees as it could stop him taking ukraine at a later date. Also putin cannot agree a front line freeze while ukraine occupies parts of russia territory. politically that would be a disaster for putin. However if trump listens to his advisors and go all in on oil sanctions, putin may have no choice but to negotiate, if this plays out, Putin is finished.

Not really. The Central Bank suspended ruble trade at the end of last November when the ruble briefly touched 120 to the dollar and then settled at 114. China and India, Russia's two largest trading partners, have refused to accept and have refused to pay rubles. The ruble is no longer an international currency.

Well, the ruble dipped from about a penny to .9 for a day, now has been hovering at .98 or so for a couple of weeks. So there doesn''t appear to be a "crash" in value yet.

It means the bank stepped in and bought a ton of rubles using foreign currency reserves, and raised base rate interest rates to eye watering levels. For the last year they have been forcing russian companies to trade foregn currency back to rubles to bolster demand. They cant keep doing this forever, without such interventions the ruble would likely be trading around 130 to the dollar at best, its now held artificially low. The exchange rate movements dont tell the full story.
