Why are you Democrocyphobic? Why have you removed any teaching and suppressing the English language? Is the Eastern culture is trying to remove our history? We're the Jews of the 21st century, being irradicated by Stalinists. They are the people who killed 126 million of their own people and now they want to do the same with Europeans. If Iran and North Korea don't stop building military bases in their puppet state we might have to use the n-word (nuclear). They did sign a document not moving one inch closer to NATO. If you look at the map you can clearly see after we accepted more members Russia came closer and closer to NATO's border. The logical step will be to make a demilitarized zone through Russia, except for Belgorod which has always been an enclave of Ukraine.

I can’t recall an American president sending in armed thugs, seizing a media organization, incarcerating its directors and bribing them. You’re watching this on FRONTLINE, for instance, which investigates politicians more than any other journalistic enterprise. No troops have ever stormed the PBS 32:11 offices as far as I know. Putin is a walking war crime atrocity with an inferiority complex. No wonder he and trump get along so well.

That is hardly what happened with the USSR. We were at war with them not long after Nazi Germany fell. The Cold War, while not fought with armies, at least not their own, it was absolutely a war. Russia lost. That is why Germany is unified now and why several eastern European nations are no longer under Russian control. In fact, a large part of our involvement in the middle east is a result of the proxy wars fought there during the cold war. Don't get me wrong, I am sick of bombing the shit out of 3rd world countries, but Russia has hardly ever minded their own business for the last 100+ years.

Let's be serious, America is not a democracy neither. They like to call themselves that, but in reality the elections are just a show and they don't matter. The politicians are bought by the corporations and vote the laws the corporations want. In the end you have laws that could have been installed by the corporations themselves. So what you have in America is fascism. And last time I checked, fascism is not a free and democratic system...

It is kind of hard to take this seriously as it paints the US as an innocent victim and the Russians as bad as the US is overstepping its national borders and trying to push regime change in Venezuela.
@yakojjy
@yakojjy 5 жыл бұрын
It's not world history, it's a documentary contextualizing Russian interference in US 2016 election. That's all. If you want to learn about how the US interferes in other countries there's plenty of documentaries on those too. In this instance, yes, US was the victim. Yes, Russia was bad. Just like if you watch a WW2 documentary it's going to paint Germans as bad. In Venezuela, US isn't really pushing regime change, Venezuelans are doing that all on their own. Most of Venezuelan Congress haven't even accepted the election results, because it was so clearly fraudulent and rigged by Maduro, who basically controls the military. Military Higher-Ups tend to be quite corrupt in Authoritarian Regimes. Their military and congress are split. Most people want a new fair election, US supports it. That's about the extent of it. Although who really knows what Trump will do.

It is unfortunate that they glossed over the complete failure of Yeltsin's presidency. From my understanding, Russia experienced a severe economic depression during most of the 1990s, yet the documentary barely mentions this. It seems the filmmakers had a premise they started with when making this, and possibly ignored evidence that went against it, which is within the realm of current Russian/One party state propaganda.

I would say my view of Putin was completely different in my younger days when the internet was not so pervasive and we only had the one sided perspective of what a section of the media wanted to portray. He's not done anything the US hasn't historically done clandestinely and then later admitted to. He's simply more conspicuous about it as if he's taunting the US. Did everyone forget the US invaded Iraq and literally occupied it for a decade under false pretenses and unilateral action? The same excuse of bringing democracy and freedom Putin is using as well in liberating the Russians in Ukraine. The US hopes to maintain the rules it set in place but Russia and China don't like the rules and who made them and they're taking history lessons from the US on how to get away with it. It's pretty much geopolitical blowback for trying to rule the world through military, culture, and wealth. The US is literally the biggest hypocrite and has double standards for its allies vs enemies. Pot calling the kettle black. If Russia were to ally with Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean then put missiles there the US would behave similarly.

Logical fallacy: Argument from authority. His legal expertise, knowledge of mineral resources and sporting prowess have no necessary bearing on his abilities as a leader. His limitations are laid bare at 7:30 From his behaviours and statements, it is evident that he had no faith in even the most rudimentary forms of enlightened self-interest. That Putin can only see the choice of states and individuals in the former Soviet satellites of liberal democracy over Eurasianism as evidence of manipulation is HIS weakness. To attempt to create an empire that penalises those self-actualising tendencies and champions compliance will inevitably lead to stagnation and failure.

Maybe you people should stand up to Putin and learn about democracy. Once your country stops committing acts of war against ours I'm happy to reevaluate my "Russiaphobia". Not before.

@@ev4742 Please. The US is the most aggressive nation on the planet. It has invaded (overtly and covertly), interfered in, and destroyed more sovereign nations than any other country in the modern era. It has a longstanding policy of funding opposition groups, frequently terrorists, to destabilize nations. It exploits the American people and its allies in pursuit of the geopolitical interests of an elite few. And it blatantly prosecutes journalists who expose it for its war crimes and abuses of power. It is a state of coercion, subterfuge, and betrayal. Before criticizing Putin for his way of doing things, why don't you first muzzle your extremely aggressive and corrupt government? Democracy in the US is pure hallucination induced by the opioid of media propaganda.

VoidSurf I can assure that my freedom and liberty is not an hallucination, as I live here and you don’t. Regarding invading forward countries; don’t ever stop believing that the US will turn away from the challenge of exporting liberty.

Putin invaded Georgia(country) in august 2008, why Frontline didn't mention that? If the world did the right thing that time, there would be no Ukraine problem now

To portray the Iraq war as a quest for democracy is so disingenuous that Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld would agree with it.

How SAD that we, the u.s.are the sole reason Libya is a disaster right now. Quaddafi had repented and tried to work with u.s.a. ...we had no right to screw that country the way we did.
