Wow, Tom! Thank you so much for all of the time, effort, and cost that went into this review. Obviously, this is a superfluous number of contours for any makeup collection, so I feel like this kind of content is maybe some of the most valuable to me (though I’m here for just your Tom-ness). I’m never going to work my way through this many different contours, nor have the memory for comparison if I were to make my way through them over the years. Why can’t brands who make beautiful components get the color right? Ritual de Fille is the only one! I have the Salt NY cream contour, ELF contour wand, Fenty matchstick, and the Westman Atelier. The ELF isn’t the worst packaging in the world, but I definitely wish I liked my prettier ones more. Excited to have the Rituel de Fille as a future option.

Good morning Tom! 🌞 Edit now that I've finished the video: Intuition is great, I got a sample from Rituel. If the scent wasn't so strong it would be my winner. I just swatched my sample against Salt New York's Sculpt + Bronze Creme Tint Pro in Taupe and Make's Eye Stylo in Meridian or Latitude, my only other contours haha. The SNY is definitely warmer and more brontour but the same deepness of tone. The Make colors are sooo close they are basically the same - Latitude is slightly cooler/grey, Meridian is slightly darker, but honestly they're basically dupes for each other. These seem really similar to the VBB stylos so wanted to recommend to folks if VBB is cost-prohibitive ($22 vs $38). They're also refillable! And the SNY is $16 but only sold as refills to use in whatever magnetic pallet you have.

been so excited for this one! i've been really into a cream brontour with a rosy powder bronzer on top, so i'm super tempted by the westman atelier, caveats and all. intuition from rdf also looks like a dream true contour color for me. thanks for doing this! :)
@katieharris7219 Жыл бұрын
That's My dream setup too. My favorite rosey powder bronzer of the moment is by MOB Beauty in the shade M36. What's your to to rosey-bronzer? (I've been on a long time Quest for the Perfect Rosey Bronzer, so I'm nosey!) But for cream contour specifically, I've been eyeing the RdF product as well as the shades inner glow and abundance (one is a rosey-taupe and one is a plummy-taupe) from Kjaer Weis, both of which have been recommended for contouring on fair to light skin tones. The shade abundance looks pretty close to RdF intuition. 🤔 Decisions, decisions... ❤❤❤

@@hautemesstom I was thinking of using it as a blushy-contour. That idea had a small moment earlier this year (late spring/early summer) and it got me thinking about using some of my products differently, especially since bronzer/contour colors are such a challenge... And I thought perhaps maybe "brown" isn't my thing since other colors out there can still sculpt the face in an interesting way. I'm still experimenting... But it's got me going through lots of products in my collection and thinking of alternatives ways to use them. Thanks for the feedback! ❤️❤️❤️

@@katieharris7219 i (unfortunately) absolutely love my very expensive gucci powder bronzer! the lightest shade almost swatches as a pale rosey nude blush but when layered over a brontour is pretty perfect. packaging is also pretty (albeit light plastic but the aesthetic impact makes up for it). also has a heavy floral fragrance which i love but could be problematic if your sensitive to that sort of thing in any way.

I agree with your take on DM. She has some innovative products like her balms, but the way she sees color is not the same as I do. Very olive leaning/complementing shades that don't work for my brown skin with some rosier undertones. I wish there were some other undertones so I can enjoy them. At the same time, olive tones are often left out of brands so I'm sure they enjoy it! And I have Gucci that complements my rosier tones!

I also love the Danessa Myrick Balm you got in that horrible colour😂 but a different shade obviously 😂 I do think in general balm and creams change appearance of tone when applied to different skin tones so it can be difficult to assess if a colour will work as a contour on you specifically if you don’t actually see it swatched on someone similar to oneself 😊❤

You always end up with such creative, fresh ideas for your videos! That Danessa Myricks balm in Light1 seems like a great shade for olive-skinned folks, but I wasn't able to wear it, being a light olive person myself. It's too warm and saturated for me, even as a bronzer. When blended out, it looked orange. And I absolutely hated the formula. It clung to/accentuated dry patches, lifted the foundation, was difficult to blend. Gave it to my mom, and she wears it as an eyeshadow, which was a brilliant idea! Her way of doing latte makeup I guess :)

YES!!! I’ve been so excited for this video. I love the westman atelier stick so much but yea it’s like a cream bronzer for me not a cream contour. note though: I have the mini which isn’t magnetic and the lid comes off CONSTANTLY. I keep it in a drawer where it isn’t being jostled around or anything and it comes off all the time. I haven’t noticed it affecting the formula, but it’s annoying. when I repurchase it (which will be soon because it’s almost 100% gone! crazy) I will be buying the full size. I’ve been thinking of purchasing an actual cream contour since biscuit is so warm and I’ll definitely be going with that essence stick. it evens out the price of the bronzer stick if you think about it. 😅

Thank you so much for putting together this video. I know it was a beast, but you've made your tribe very happy. Your reviews are so incredibly thorough and helpful! My perfect combo is a gray contour (preferably cream) and a rosey-toned bronzer. My favorite of the moment is by MOB Beauty. They also have a cream bronzer/contour that's a beautiful desaturated browny-rose (M80) that's also quite lovely, but not really gray enough. (However, i adore their rosey bronzer powder formula. M36 is amazing!) I've also been using and enjoying the light Symphony Contour trio by Kaleidos. They have a fantastic powder contour that is very buildable, so it's hard to mess up and get gray mud on the face. The bronzer shade is a beautiful cool brown, which is what I go for next when I can't find a rosey-bronze. And there's also a magical powder that rounds out the palette. It's silky-soft with a slight pink hue that helps everything blend perfectly together. (It is a lot like the Kosas cloud set, but I like this one much better. I can also use it like Kackie uses the VB light bronzer brick to smooth out edges and take away anything distracting). I think these powders may be sold individually as well, but all three shades in this little palette are wonderful and it has great presentation: it's weighty, fun to interact with--definitely vanity placement worthy. But I still want to find my perfect contour in a cream, either with the gray OR perhaps a purpley-rosey shade that I could use to sculpt my fair neutral-leaning cool face. I've been eyeing Intuition (a purpley-gray and Star of the Video) as well as Eros (a rosey-beige) from RdF. In the same vein, Kjaer Weis also has two potential sculpting shades: Inner Glow, a rosey-taupe and Abundance, a purpley-taupe. I clearly have a type! So those are the four that live in the mind-palace wishlist. 🤔 If anyone out there has any thoughts or experience with those products, I'd love to hear from you! ❤❤❤
@hautemesstom Жыл бұрын
I have heard a lot of good things about MOB beauty. My fear is because it’s like pro pan kind of things it would get lost in my collection because I tend to not use face palettes (even if I make them myself)! I tried the contour trios from kaleidos earlier this year and I really liked the contour. I don’t think they sell the contour shades individually. If they did I’d buy that again. I thought the other powders were fine but that contour was the star of the show. I passed mine onto my friend who will hopefully enjoy all the powders and get good use out of it. I have a little sample of Eros. A few videos back I did a vampy look with a lot of RDF stuff so you would be able to see it in action there.

Rituel de fille is so beautiful but essence seems to hit most of the same marks. And thank you so much because i was sorely tempted to buy the uoma beauty contour stick, that color absolutely would not have worked on my skin tone!

essence makes some amazing things - i'm in love with their nude lipstick line but when i bought it, got it home and tried it on it smelled and tasted like soap and not just soap but like, soapier than actual real soap. and it was STRONG. i'm already sensitive to fragrance so it was a hard pass for me, i got rid of it immediately but i can't imagine that being a draw for anyone regardless. watermelon for a cheek product? i am also confused by this. it's really too bad because essence makes truly affordable products for me, a lot of folks in the beauty community recommend at least some of their products, and the formulas of the things i've tried have been great but the fragrance thing makes me wary.

i don’t like the fact that the VB contour stick is almost the same amount of product as their eye sticks if i’m remembering correctly

I have to say, the VB contour is NOT it in any sense i’m still a little confused as to why you picked that as number 1, when it had so many things going against it (color, price, fill) but then said that something thats a perfect contour color and formula like RDF was marked kind of low simply for being in a pan and not in stick format. Everyones entitled to opinions but that truly mystified me tbh 😅
