I highly recommend novice campers carry a folding saw rather than a hatchet. A hatchet is a very fast way to acquire an injury you do not want while out in the wilderness. A folding saw will quickly cut wood in a much safer manner. I'm fond of the Silky saws, though Komelon also makes a solid tool.

I have a few of these from when the pandemic first happened. I have the solar focal starter, a giant ferrocerium rod, a portable stove, a coarse saw, magnesium shavings in small cube capsules, heat reflective ponchos, a compass, a hatchet similar to yours in blue iirc. And a first aid kit. I should really keep this stuff in the Hyundai if things go south again. Minus the magnesium.

EVERYTHING has a bottle opener, yet almost nothing has a Can Opener. Seriously, all these 'survival' things get bottle openers, yet in a survival situation not only would it be less likely to find a glass bottle that isn't twist-off, but literally anything can pop a cap off. Yet opening a can will be so much harder.

Lived in Hawaii and there is a tree called the kukui nut tree also known as the candle nut tree because if you got to the actual nut it would burn. Hawaiian would skewer several on a sharp stick to make a torch.

I ask because my heart rate seemed to go up this video (I have issues with hypertension) even though I was only relaxing.
