The thing with Lexus is that if you replace the exhaust system with one from another manufacturer, you will definitely have less power. Simply because there is no way to get into the control unit and adjust the software accordingly. Even if you think you can replace the standard air filter with one from K&N, you will still have less power.

The new beard was so good. The unmolested sentiment for the LFA is related to a bunch of stuff, mostly respect for the work put into getting the car where it is from the factory. And then all the nasty tacked on this and that body kits that get added to cars that are polarizing. As someone who had an original allocation for an LFA (and gave it up as my wife did not want such a loud car), your car is in a good home, enjoy it. Next up to the Dyno, how about your Gen 2 NSX?

Back pressure is NOT what gives your torque. It’s tuning of pipe length and size to change when the highest efficiency point of scavenging occurs. Also the check engine may or may not charge power output that’s an assumption. It’s all relevant to what codes are set and manufacturer design. It could very well be running on the higher enrichment chart to prevent cat damage.
@punxnotdead185Ай бұрын
It might be worth it to try the catless downpipes with the stock exhaust, probably wouldn't be much louder but might free up some power. The aftermarket is kinda obnoxious except for the downshifts, the downshifts sounded good to me, I'd like mostly the stock sound with just a little of that aggression of the straight pipe on the downshifts and WOT.

6:46 "we're losing torque because we lost back-pressure from the stock exhaust" **facepalm** why do people still believe this myth in 2024
@A3ATOTАй бұрын
People get it wrong all the time. You do need different exhaust for different RPM to get the best performance from the engine. There are exhaust systems with dynamic geometry. And intake systems also. Of course it's not about the "back pressure")
@Ignacio.RomeroАй бұрын
Bease it's true, you do need some back pressure
@habpar6531Ай бұрын

@habpar6531Ай бұрын
@@Ignacio.Romero Back pressure results in more work to expel the gasses on the exhaust stroke. How do you think that can possibly increase performance. Ridiculous
@Ignacio.RomeroАй бұрын
@habpar6531 When we say "some back pressure" we don't literally mean back pressure, we mean some exhaust restriction, because what you call a myth is actually a misconception that means literally the opposite. When an exhaust has just the right size/length, the exhaust gas coming out help to suck the air out of the cylinder chambers (scavenging effect). The same principle can be used at the intake to make more power (ram effect). So yeah, what the guy in the video should've said is "we're losing torque because we gained back pressure from the stock exhaust", either way they lost power due to a free-er flowing exhaust
@chillznax2 ай бұрын
Hey dude, I wanted to give a heads up to be careful with dyno shops that only use the internal knock monitor. Absolutely Adrenaline is good, your vehicles are testament to that but when I called them they only use the stock ECU monitoring. The issue is with how knock monitoring works. Think of your engine like a 🍷. Add some water and you get a different frequency. When you bolt new things to the engine it’s like adding water to the glass. The stock ECU is calibrated to watch a specific frequency. That’s why it’s dangerous for a tuner to use the stock ECU to determine knock. It’ll be off. You may burn something up. A tuner should use a Plex knock monitor, A Tuner Nerd (analyzes knock), or a knock monitoring headphone unit. I’m sure they are very good but when you’re pushing things hard, your safety margin gets smaller and smaller. Calvo is pushing 3000 hp Vipers and they’ve been using Cody Phillips Racing who just happens to be in Utah. I listened to an interview with him on HPA Academy and he was one of the smartest guests I’ve listened to. I don’t know Cody personally and have nothing to gain, I just know he’s insanely analytical, he’s an authorized Motec dealer, has Texas 2K records and likely uses real knock monitoring equipment. Look up his videos, and definitely ask a shop what knock monitoring equipment they use. Stock is okay to leave on but for dyno tuning it’s a no-go.
