it would be really cool to see you work on the swamp area next to the green!

I’m going to try to do some work in the pond this summer with the tractor and box blade to make it look nicer. I will definitely film! Long term though I want to rent some big equipment and make it a real pond! Thanks for following!!

I feel like there should be a cup in the middle of the putting green. Especially if you're going to start using it for short game/chip shots.

I thought about it but it’s a small green and it would have gotten in the way of the long diagonal putts across the green. Also, the middle is right where there’s undulation to the lower bowl part of the green so it would limited how many putts you could hit to it.

You should use sand. Think about getting some soil test done and trying to find a reel mower. If you can find a reel mower you can have a reel green eventually. I grew up golf courses, became a scratch golfer in high-school won states than graduated early with no plan so I decided to get my turf management degree whichfeels like forever ago, found an amazing job as a assistant superintendent after working at the same course duringnthe summers and while on break for any extra experience. After a certain amount time I became the superintendent and had my dream job, I didnt get to play as much so I decided to build something special for me the kids, family and neighbors. I designed a 6,000 sq. ft. Green with 3 different tiers or 3 separate greens on the green. This was 15 years ago, I decided using A4 bentgrass, and everything else Zoysia, 3 different cultivars for different areas. I have 36 different tees, 18 holes 9 holes cut at any given time, 3 per green segment. Mostly par 4s or 3s but 1 par 5 for the front 9 and one on the back. I walked mowed everything unil I had health problems but I ended up buying a triplex for the zoysia and still walk the green almost everyday in the morning. Ended up getting a job at google since I took online classes innmy spare time and I recieved several IT certifications. I have to admit, working in technology makes more money but I was far happier with being a superintendent and working outside.

Interesting stuff! I'm definitely going to get a reel mower down the road, just doing everything right now on a tight budget as we just finished building the house last year. I'm going to start doing a lot more with sand as well when I'm ready to get the fairway areas more level and smooth.

Start using a sand/topsoil mix from now on
@UnderParAcres Жыл бұрын
This was a topsoil/sand/compost mix. I think I’ll need more sand for leveling though once the grass gets thicker. Thanks!

I’ve been wondering when someone would ask this question…I’ve been in the cyber insurance business for the last 15 years. Prior to that I played mini-tour golf.
