Robokiller has worked great for me. The calls that get through, let them start talking then move quietly whisper as if someone is there "We've got another one, hurry up and trace it". They'll immediately hang up and never call back

I have been using this app for almost a year and still get robocalls. The database is fairly extensive but so many new numbers keep popping up there is no way for any app to keep up with all the scammers. The callers have gotten smarter and will often hang up fairly quickly after the dialogue starts. Still, fun to go back and listen to what has been recorded by the app.

@Steven .....Jones: the Microsoft calls are so ridiculous it's hard to believe people do still fall for them. Until you are trying desperately to contact a living person in Microsoft Support, and their (yes Microsoft's very own) Virtual Assistant directs you to a phone number to contact the people who will help you. And that number turns out to be a third party scammer who steals $500 from you. I have read, watched or listened to all the warnings about how scammers talk their way into your computer, show you how it has already been infected and your IP address is being whored out to anyone who pays for it. But when a Microsoft program, which only exists to direct you to help, gives you a phone number, all those warnings you know by heart are forgotten because hey, Microsoft gave you that number. So it's got to be legit. Right? So no snickering about which scammers are too stupid to know you have an Apple system. That day is coming. And BTW....IF it ever does, please do not think you can pay through PayPal and be protected. I tried to get back my $500 from an obvious scammer, but no matter how much proof I tried to give them (their dispute group is near impossible to contact) they sided with the scammers. Even after I sent them proof that the scammer Microsoft sent me to, buys and sells GoDaddy domain names in the thousands under a pyramid type scheme. The actual guy who owned the website I was sent to, had ten more of the same type. And each of those ten, had ten more, and those twenty had ten each.... we all know the drill. Except PayPal. Because even after I gave them all the information they could possibly need to see what happened, they still side with the legit scammer. If I sound like I am bitter, yes I am. Am I a wacko with an axe to grind? No, I am not. Not even close. I am truly just a 63 year old woman who trusted too easily, and am trying to share some of those experiences so maybe someone else won't be screwed over. RoboKiller Was really an awesome 'friend' to have. Now it's a money vacuum. Thank you!

I tell the “Microsoft Tech Support” folks that the computer they’re calling about is a virus server for distributing viruses. They are so stupid they still tell me I have a virus even after explaining this to them and multiple times. Then they tell me they will shut my computer down. Go for it! But wait, I need you to install something first. Hmmm...lemme see...carry the six....NO!

I have had robookillet for years at first it worked great. Then I began to get more and more call coming through. I tried to cancel but could not get anywhere. No phone number no was to get to any apt to cancel. I had to change my account at the bank. I did not give the new account number to robookillet, but they still contained to deducked the money from my new account without my approvial. Now they have raised the amount from $2.99 to $3.27 coming from my account without my approval. I will keep trying

I add the numbers to my contacts and register them as "DO NOT ANSWER" so when I get a call I don't answer and eventually they stop calling.

$30 a year to block calls? Thats stupid. My phone has a number blocker already on it so i can stop anyone from calling back after the first time they try calling. If the number isnt in my phone or they dont leave a message, the number gets blocked and i never hear from it again.

You can make the area code the same as the ares youre trying to contact but you cant have the same phone number as someine else like youre claiming they are doing. Telecommunications dont work like that.

Scam calling is a real problem, but as someone who worked as a collections rep for a year or so (I was the guy you talk to so that your account *doesn't* go to the collections people that take your car and shit), this app pisses me off. I was here trying to remind people and work with them to make sure their bill gets paid, and I got these robot recordings all the time.

Most of the ones I get wait for you to speak, and then hang up. It's an automatic system verifying that each number has a person on the other end. Then it logs your number into a database for more scammers to use. Plus the number they are calling from is spoofed (not their real number)

RoboKiller was acquired by IAC (InterActiveCorp) in November, 2018. IAC quietly re-worked ALL of the AnswerBots so that they don't contain touch-tones anymore, which used to be what triggered a human being to come on the line and get their time wasted. Now, all the app does is block the calls. No revenge :( I hope IAC got a nice check out of that little deal.

I was sugar and spice. Actually got them to give me their number. And boy did I have fun.. Actually got one agreeing with me about nursery rhymes. Its crazy how so many of them involve Spiders. I mean the Itsy Bitsy Spider. The lady that swallowed the fly that she swallowed the spider. And Little Miss Muffet who sat on her tuffet and she got scared by a spider. So ask the guy what's with all the nursery rhymes and spiders. He got dumbfounded and was like I don't know you make a valid point. And then he said but do you want lower interest rates on your credit cards. And I said I sure do. But I don't got no credit cards. He laughed and then hung up. Then then I called them again I think I got the same guy he tried to voice and using high-pitch sounds. And we just chatted for like 20 minutes. I'm laughing he's laughing I'm asking him what he really tells his mom he does for a living. We had a great old time on the phone. But all the while I'm flirting with him and he's flirting with me he can't be scamming nobody right.

If you use what's in your settings you don't need this. I have my cellphone set to DO NOT DISTURB and that is set to only allow the numbers in my cellphone's memory to ring through. When others call the screen will just light up and if I don't answer it goes to voicemail and later on I will block the number and when/if they call back they go directly to voicemail. I've owned Samsung, LG, Motorola, HTC and have done it with each. I also have CALL WAITING turned off so if you get a busy signal I'm talking someone and just leave a message.

Picture the scenario, I have robokiller installed to stop them, my mother is about to die if i don’t help her, she calls me to get her out of her situation, because of the number being reported I now can not call my mother or answer that call. Three dollars for the app a month when you can just do it in the settings on your iPhone since iOS 7 with the iPhone 4s and above it’s called block unknown callers It says I’m straight to voicemail you don’t have to listen to the voicemail but at least your phone doesn’t ring and then you could just delete the recent call list and if you want to you can block them but it sounds I’m straight to voicemail your phone won’t even ring

What kinda gets me is people talking shit about legit telemarketers who are just trying to make rent money at their job like anyone else. They don’t work for themselves and they have a list of numbers and a script they have to read from. Also as much as you hate it when they call they hate making that call. I wish people would be more polite with them and just tell them sorry you aren’t interested and that particular company will leave you alone. If you want to be left alone from all legit telemarketers then put your number on the do not call list.
