For my fellow non Brits, I googled what a Christmas hamper was: A Christmas hamper is a traditional gift containing small nonperishable food items, particularly seasonal favorites such as fruitcake or plum pudding, chocolate, nuts, jams, biscuits, honey, smoked or dried meats, and cheese. A hamper is a basket-y container with a springy lid you keep dirty laundry in! Some houses even have them built-in in the bathrooms like cabinetry. Good hiding place.

I like a good fruitcake but in America it has become a crude fashion to hate (or pretend to hate) fruitcakes. They are the butt of various jokes. There are even huge 'fruitcake toss' events, where people bring their unwanted fruitcakes and submit them for various methods of ritual disposal, mostly by launching them down a football field or park using gas cannons, catapults, trubuchets, etc.

Dorian Williams In the US we have Stockings, which usually have small gifts, fruit or nuts, candy, etc. A long time ago they used to be actual socks, but now most have bought/made stockings that are larger, decorated, used as decoration and then filled for Christmas. We also do gift baskets, which is basically what she does in the video but tends to be used on more occasions and holidays, unlike stockings which are Christmas-tradition-based.

We have a gift basket in America. It's a literal basket full of goodies. Fruit cake (when can be good if you buy one from a legit baker) chocolates fruits nuts etc
