I just wanted to give you a big hug when you were having trouble with the laminator! I am a veteran teacher and I STILL have times when my lamination doesn’t stick and messes up. Don’t be afraid to run it through again and ask other teachers for tips about the laminator. If the lamination is just loose in a few spots, you can use an iron to fix it. If you use an iron, make sure to put a thin towel or cloth on top of the laminated paper first. I love your rainbow pennant garlands on your windows!! They are so bright and cheerful! Also, the best thing I have found to attach things to almost any surface is a product called Magic Mounts. I have been using them for years and I bet they will work to attach your eyes to your TV board. I use them for everything!

You were saying that you felt embarrassed about re-laminating your number line, and I was like, "Awwwwwwww, Sweetheart! You just walk that beautiful hair bun right back in that laminating room, smile, and say something goofy like, 'Hashtag, first-year teacher life!' and run that number line back through there!" Sweetie, don't even worry about making those mistakes- I've been teaching for 10 years and I STILL botch laminating jobs from time to time for whatever reason :)

It's nice to see all the great things that you are doing to get your class ready for your firsties. Just a few suggestions from a seasoned teacher: 1. Don't be afraid to ask questions, even if you have to ask multiple times. We have all been there. 2. Laminate first and then cut. When you cut first, laminate, and then cut again, you are adding an unnecessary step and cutting the same thing twice. 3. If you have a little spot on your items that do not laminate, you can place a piece of paper over the spot and iron it to seal it. You can also run the item through the laminators that are made for the laminating pockets. Oh and I read the suggestion about asking permission. Remember this is your class but you don't own it, always ask permission before making a big change like painting. I'm sure it will look great when you're done.

Girl, as a second year teacher I 100% feel you. Just know that you are doing awesome and you can handle anything that this teacher life throws at you! School laminators are notoriously thin and flimsy. I really only use it when I have no other option or the item is too big to go through my scotch laminator. For things that you’re going to put up on the wall it’s probably better not to laminate them because then they won’t be shiny and hard to see at some angles. That little banner in the hallway window looks adorable. You could use those window bulletin boards as a welcome for the beginning of the year and then ask families to bring in photos and use it as a photo family wall. Make sure to recycle what you can from the trash and donate things that other people can you use. ☺️

Hi, I found and love ur channel, I dont know what kind of lamination machine you have at the school, but I work with a one at my job, and I have seen where it doesn't seal right because the heat setting isnt high enough, (I like to have mine at 265, it's an old machine and usually takes about 30 minutes to really heat up), and I try to keep the speed at around 4 or 5. Mine also has a gauge where you can change the thickness of what your laminating on the side. I dont know it this helps or not.

Rules for Laminator: A longer warm-up time is fine. Wait for 20-25 minutes. Always run the laminator until you see the back coming out clear THEN put in your work. Those few inches to a foot helps the laminator evenly distribute the heat on the roller. A thicker mm will need a higher temperature, longer warm-up time, and slower speed in order to laminate well. Don't forget to run it with no work until it comes out clear, THEN add work in. Always leave a bigger margin on the sides than you think you'll need because the paper can shift while it gets pulled in. As your work gets pulled in, keep tension in the paper by placing your fingers lightly on the paper until it is all fully pulled (this reduces wrinkles). After your work is finished laminating, run it for a few extra inches (I suggest a min. of 6 inches) at the bottom, then cut. -Someone who was a library assistant and did a TON of laminating for teachers.

If your bunting keeps falling off, you can try sticking it up with your sticky hooks. For the laminating that didn't seal, try putting your iron on the hottest setting. Put a towel over it and then iron over the towel until the lamination melts together.

Markia Lennox Hi!! Thank you for encouraging me- this process can seem like a never ending battle and I needed that today ❤️ Ohhh let’s talk VIPKid! I actually taught every morning during my master’s program. My classes themselves were online, but I did a full time internship for a whole year in a classroom so I would teach VIPKid 4-6:30, go to school for my internship 7-3, then do homework/etc. after. It was a rough schedule but I needed the money while I was in school still and couldn’t have really sacrificed the after school time for a different job because I needed It for school work. And weekends are MONEY- I taught 5-10AM Saturday and Sunday to make enough. So long story short- it’s doable but definitely requires dedication or need to make It happen. I had no social life 😅🤷🏼♀️ let me know if you have any other questions!

I wonder if you said the same method you did for the back board would work for the googly eyes just use either a thicker tape or put something under the tape just a idea

When using the laminator maybe wait a little longer and run it on slowest setting. You van also use an iron to fix parts that don’t stick.

So for the lamination cut it out leave a little excess then run it through your machine

Do you have the borders you used linked anywhere? I looked back at the video where you put most of your boards up but I didn’t see it? I love them!
I’m glad you found them! Sorry I’m just seeing this but I did add them to the description for others. Must’ve forgot- thank you for reminding me 💗

Everything is coming out so great! Ugh I hate when the laminator does that don’t worry even veteran teachers have problems with the laminator... Where are your earrings from???
@puttingthemfirst5 жыл бұрын
Blissfully_Teaching I’m glad it’s not just me out here wrestling laminators! LOL these are from Target- I always check their clearance jewelry when I go. These were under $5 so I got two colors ;)
