I used a Peg for my test run on PVC and can confirm there is too much wiggling. Worked well with J Channel for roof line. The PVC will rotate. I'm going to try your method. Also, for future reference, instead of doing both sides, just set your drill to go all the way through and stop at 15/32 on the face down side. It doesn't matter of the hole on opposite side is slightly bigger and makes it easier to press lights through. Thanks for the idea!

Is that 3/4" PVC pipe?
@markbauer79153 жыл бұрын
Where do you get the clips for the pipe and your house? I don’t have or ave access to a 3d printer. Like the idea of mounting into pvc for the eves. Thanks
@jk2mdesigns9423 жыл бұрын
So, I used clips designed by Jason Sisk. He does sell pre-printed ones if you do not have a printer. I used 5-6 of the 3/4in version per window. One on each corner and one in the top middle and sometimes bottom middle as well. For my garage, I used them on the corners and then about every 4-5 feet. Here is the link to purchase the same ones I used. www.sfl-designs.store/?store-page=Standard-Wall-Mount-Clip-p415882563

Thanks for the video. Do you think that Pex 10feet bars can do the job or it is preferable to use PVC.
@jk2mdesigns94223 күн бұрын
Pex could work, but it is much more flimsy over 10ft than pvc.
@jongriffith429314 күн бұрын
@@jk2mdesigns942 Although, with PEX, you could run tight arcs.

I see a 12mm and a 1/2" version. Do you double drill these so that you feed the pixel through the 1/2" hole and out the 12mm hole or something?
@jk2mdesigns9422 жыл бұрын
I use the 12mm to run the hole all the way through both sides of the pipe, then I go back with a 18mm bit to enlarge one side to allow for the body of the pixel to fin inside the pipe. On the 12mm side, just the tip of the pixel sticks out, to the first little detent that is on the pixel.

HI we are looking at using this installation in as part of our church stage design before I pull the trigger on this method I wanted to ask one question. This video shows you making the holes but not putting the pixels in... so did you slide them in the pipe then try to push them in the holes from the inside? if so how hard was that and if not what did you do .. I like the idea of a clean look with all the wires inside the pipe.. I would love to know what you did in this regard .. thanks !
@jk2mdesigns9423 жыл бұрын
Good question, I inserted them perpendicular to the pipe. So directly through the hole from the big side to the small side, so the bulb sticks out of the pipe about 5/8". The wires are not inside the pic doing it this way. If you watch some of my other video on my Chanel however. You can see arches in the front of my yard. Those have the same pixel inside 1" white PEX and those are ran all on the inside so the wires are hidden.

How are you tucking your wires to be unseen?
@jk2mdesigns9423 жыл бұрын
For the PVC lights, I am not attempting to hide the wires. These are just up during the Show season.

What about the gaps at the elbows? Won’t that leave a big space not making a complete square when lit up?
@jk2mdesigns9423 жыл бұрын
It does leave the corners unlit, but I think it turned out ok. You can see how it looks in my other videos of my light shows.
@markbauer79153 жыл бұрын
Don’t see why you can’t drill the corner too. You can see the corner is not there in the videos but it looks great. Not sure the corner is needed.
@jk2mdesigns9423 жыл бұрын
Yeah it would be possible to drill the corners. Decided I liked the look with the dark corners. Makes some of the vertical and horizontal effects look cool.

Do you have the 3d printer file for making this clips ?
@jk2mdesigns9422 жыл бұрын
They are from Jason Sick, here is the link to his 3d files. www.thingiverse.com/phoenlx/designs He has lots of different ones to chose from.

I use 3d printed hangers. They are from SFL designs sfl-designs.com/?store-page=3-4-PVC-STL-Files-c132478625 They have held up really well and I can print replacements as needed.

Thanks for the video, just what I was looking for But Please. Don’t wear gloves using a drill press! The bit snags that glove and it will make a mess out of your whole hand.

You are not wrong! I stopped using gloves not long after I filmed this video.
