I want to say thank you for this video. Back in 2005-2007 my family was stationed in Guam. This island had been a place of emotional healing for me, and I met some of the most beautiful and amazing people as well. It is such a blessing to get to see my old stomping grounds as a pre-teen, and it brought back beautiful reminders and memories that helped me grow. I instantly subscribed and I cannot wait to watch all your other amazing travels. ❤️

I grew up on Guam! My siblings, friends, and I spent half our lives at Pago Bay. We used to jump off The Rock (located at 13.42698 144.80033). The beach there was off-limits to the general population but my dad worked at the U of Guam marine lab so we were allowed access. It was like having our own private beach. If you want a fascinating historical place to visit then go visit Yokoi's cave. Yokoi was the last Japanese straggler to be found. Look up "Shoichi Yokoi". He was captured while I was living on Guam. Congrats on Hubby's promotion!

I'm enjoying your vlogs of Guam. My family was stationed on Andrews 1063-1966. Lover's Leap was a long trudge through dense jungle at that time. The red tide would appear at that point once a year and local legend said that it turned red with the blood of two lovers who jumped from the point when their families would not let them marry. We could see it from the football field of my highschool. And……..there was only one "large" civilian store in Tumon called The Town House. There were no civilian hotels and one restaurant off base called The Red Carpet. Going there was a big deal. All other food places or accommodations were very small palm huts or in a private home and owned by locals.

Welcome to Guam 🏝 I am a native from Guam (Guahan) & relocated to US since 2014. The island it is a bit humid bc where near the equator. You have to live here about 3-6 mos to get adjusted to the weather. We have rain & sunshine all year round. Summer is hotter but AC’s are a life savor. The island is coolest from Dec-March when the trade winds flows thru the island. We get a lot of tropical depression that can lead to storm or typhoons which winds are stronger than hurricanes. But housing on Guam are strong enough for shelters. Hope you go around the island their are a lot more beautiful sites that takes your breathe away & have amazing sunsets to enjoy around 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm. Not sure how much your hubby knows about the island you should check out tour business or go online to seek areas of the island to visit , almost everywhere are entertainment brochures & maps, google map is also feasible not sure how far, the maps are in stores , gas stations pretty much everywhere retails or groceries are, Enjoy ! 🌺🌴

Hi Patricia! I recently found your channel, my fiance is currently stationed in Korea for a year and we will be PCSing to Guam next year, he is in the AF. I have a couple questions for you, maybe you can solve some of them. Were you already living in Japan at the time of his deployment? How long are you stationed in Japan for? and does that mean that they can get deployed anytime regardless of where they are stationed (let's say if its for a limited time, like we would be in Guam for 3 years and then due to PCS again) I don't know if that makes sense. Gracias!! hope to hear back from you soon.
@PVergara6 жыл бұрын
DG Class 👋 Oh you will love Guam! So beautiful, and great food 🙌 To answer your questions: Yes I was living in Japan when my husband got deployed to Guam. We have now live here in Japan for 3 years, we have one year left😭 And as for deployment, well they usually have a window when they can be deployed, it could be a few months. If they get picked up for a deployment during that window then they will deploy, I believe it is every year, but I am not too sure. My husband had gone theough two windows where he wasn’t picked for a deployment, but it really just depends on the mission itself and the job that your fiance has. There will be a point in his career for sure where he will deploy.
@PVergara6 жыл бұрын
DG Class I hope that helps, if you have more questions don’t hesitate 😊
@DGClass6 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for replying. Yes, he keeps telling me, you have to be ready to be by yourself eventually if I get deployed. So it makes me a bit nervous being away from family in a place I don't know anyone, and scared for his safety of course. He has been deployed before but that was many years ago, we still weren't in each other's lives at that time. But this is what we signed up for, gotta support him wherever his job takes him/us.
@PVergara6 жыл бұрын
DG Class yea deployment is never easy, but there is a beautiful part in all of this, you get to meet people and create amazing bonds, you get to explore a new country and travel, and for me the best part was being able to really focus my energy in my own personal growth. Having my husband deployed allowed me to think about what I truly wanted in my life in terms of career, and it really helped me get reconnected with myself and my personal goals.

Guam is not a deployment. It’s a U.S. territory. Kuwait isn’t even a deployment. Afghanistan or Iraq is a deployment. If you don’t carry a weapon every day you aren’t deployed.
@PVergara4 жыл бұрын
Much respect to those who deploy to dangerous locations. Guam is a unique training deployment that requires 6months to a year away from your family. My husband was very fortunate...
