raising the price is a great idea but not so good for some customers. People are furloughed due to covid 19 and don't have as much money right now. Im in that situation unfortunately😩

Andrea, thank you for sharing. It's true, some are not in a position to spend extra money as they are struggling due to the pandemic. Garden centers will have to decide for themselves what makes sense. That said, with an intense season expected with an increase in demand, it may be hard for them to turn their back on this opportunity.

I'm a plant shopper that explores multiple garden centers. What one might not have another might. Also seeing anything new is fun, be it plants, pots, tools etc. Variety makes all the difference to the shopping experience, just like a grocery store, garden centers need to be fresh and exciting. That's what steers me to other garden centers or nurseries always looking for something new.

As a home gardener in Northern Michigan, I used well over 125 PW annuals last summer, with an average price of $5 per 4.25” size container. It would be interesting to know what the cost is across the states.

We can't get many PW plants here in the San Francisco Bay area. Most of our garden centers don't stock them. Other 4 inch perennials are $5.99. 4 inch annuals are $2.99. Jumbo pack annuals are $5.49. Most gallon size perennials are $9.99, none of these mentioned are PW. We have some fantastic growers in our area who I support whole heartedly, if I really want something that's PW, I'll order it from them.
