The aggressiveness part is something I noticed when abilities and weapons got a lot more variety. People are capable of just baiting you into eating crazy amounts of damage.

@@batslc I find as someone who got the game like a month ago and have been learning since, someone who just charges at me and pretty much spams mantras makes me so confused and dazzled I die instantly

@@batslc It's something that annoys me when I'm the aggressor as well. Although I notice and counter it fast. When someone else plays ultra aggressively to the point it counters me by speed, I switch to passive and I time my attacks for them to run into it. I've landed eclipse kicks, guardbreaks, criticals, ice fissures, and other high damage abilities.

@@puffythecat4601 They're not really spamming. They're combination attacks designed to confuse your defenses. It works even on experienced and good players, so as a new player you don't stand much of a chance against it.

depending on your build, there will be fights that playing passive better, but there will be other fights where it will be better to play aggresive

another thing to get good at is learning common vent timings/parry timings in combos to extend combos massively, if you can bait vents its a free combo starter or extender and knowing when someone is going to have their parry off cooldown and probably try and parry the next thing coming at them you can preemptively mixup

A month into the release of Deepwoken I got Legion Cestus and their fist style. I had good practice with parrying and just delayed all my attacks and won every fight easily.

As a VERY aggressive player, and have been since launch week, I can safely say, a friend of mine who started in verse 2 can beat me because of the fact rushing a mf leaves you open to so many things, my best example is the heroblade of thunder crit, if you're rushing in with an air dash m1 stack you're very weak to that crit, and as a heavy main the mantra shit you mentioned is basically needed to win against good players, because anit nobody falling for a heavy m1 feint due to how slow the shit is.

@@poximia no, you can definitely still use smt like radiant kick after a crit. beware of light weapons tho, since their swing is sometimes faster than ur roll catch

I see. I will never get better at this game. I HATE being forced to play passive constantly. I’m not someone who just blindly rushes either, but if I have to back away from you CONSTANTLY.
