Yes - that's because that's where you can talk to Maya. This is her theme (though the melody is shared with some of the other Feys), so it will only play when she is present. You'll notice that it doesn't play in the office when she isn't the person you're able to talk to there.

I was only 9 when I started playong the first Ace Attorney game, and I seriously cried when Maya left at the end of 1-4. Then I tried playing the start of 1-5, but the feel of the whole case was so different without Maya that I refused to play it for a few weeks. And then every time a thought of the game Ace Attorney popped up in my head I would seriously feel depressed. I used to think we were never getting the old characters like Edgeworth or Gumshoe back, since at the start of 1-5 all they people they gave you were Ema and Lana (who I both turned out to like after all) and a weird lunch lady and an even weirder cowboy dude who went on long rants about Texas which were painful to read and click through. It was so hard to get used to 1-5, and I missed Maya and the old characters the way you get homesick when you go to a weird, foreign place. 1-5 actually turned out to be pretty good after all, but a case without Maya was just...so different. Of course, I didn't know that she would come back in JFA. It wasn't until a few years later that I got to play JFA, so that was that. Such a pleasant surprise when you realise that Maya had come back.

totally agree there! :) i try to enter each one with an open mind and don't get me wrong i liked apollo justice as a game overall so I'm not writing off the new characters but it bugs me that we're missing so many of our favourite characters like maya for new characters :/ it would be cool if we kept the old characters as well as slipping in new characters and old characters like ema in apollo justice :) (had a minor freak out when she turned up in case 2 :L )

No idea. My guess is that Capcom will retcon much of the plot in Apollo Justice/AA4 to fit in fan favourites or ignore the game completely. Both being a shame but for the greater good if it maintains characters (and keeps them in character).

@SonyTheHedgehog8 To be honest, even though Nick losing his badge landed a pretty hard blow on me, I do want the next game to take place after Apollo Justice. If all the questions the last game left us with are answered (especially the "Where did his friends go?" one), I won't even be bothered if Nick doesn't get his badge back. And yeah, I'm well-aware of the Gyakuten Kenji 2 translation team, especially since I'm apart of the community the workers go to. I know it'll be great.
