Nioh - Explaining The Abyss / Turning Divines into Ethereals!!!

So found new info on the final stuff of abyss, thnx to "warm20" from reddit for the info, he got to floor 999 using my (or at least some variation of) perfect susanoo build. max wpn lvl, final boss, final floor #, all that info in the "read more" to find it out so just a SPOILER WARNING if you want to be surprised from the abyss, don't click read more on this comment. Final Floor = 999 Final Boss = Sanada + Date Last floor completion message is a "Congrats! Now get a life!!!". Final Wpn lvl/+lvl = 320, and most likely +135. So 320 +135 maximum. Wpn lvl/+lvl tied to abyss you completed, defiling your gear is the only way to increase your lvl and +lvl past a certain point (perhaps +40), so will need to create spares of equipment if you want to max out your best stuff. No triple bosses, only doubles occasionally. What's the point? not much, i suppose its a long term goal if you're still enjoying the game. Some unique wpns only drop in the abyss, or at least, smithing text, as i got a smithing text for tome's blacksmith hammer from the abyss. forgot what floor, but don't think floor has anything to do with it, has to be in the floor 50's though since I stopped doing the abyss to focus on the new dragon ninja build, which will be up tomorrow or tuesday, izzz purty niesssee~~

If you can manage it. Every level of the "Restless Spirits" mission in the Omi Region gives a lot of gold for beating it. The downside is that you have to beat two bosses at the same time, the first one spawns in, and if you don't kill it fast enough, the second one spawns in after and they will pretty much F@#$ your sh@# up if they're both out at the same time. WotSamurai gives 10,000 gold for completing it, WotStrong gives 50,000 gold for completing it, WotDemon gives 150,000 gold for completing it, and WotWise gives 200,000 gold for completing it. No clue for WotNioh because I haven't gotten to that yet, but doubtless, it's going to be a lot higher than 200,000 gold.

A year late, but to get a good amount of gold in a small amount of time. Just repeat "Restless Spirit" a ton. 200k each time you complete it. Have 12M on me at the moment. It also lends Smithing texts for Gallantry Armor, Justice Ministry, Exceptional Armor (co-op only). As well as their weapons. Otani and Ishida drop two weapons text, one of the same thing, two of their own specialized weapons.

I turnedy whole set, weapons and accessories to ethereal rushing floors 26-29 and I'd say the chance of turning to Ethereal there is about 75% (3/4). Found those floors the easiest to do. Now I'm on floor 31 using a kunai/storm kunai build, now I'm completing the titles list for mpre ninjutsu power befpre I progress down in the abyss.

You can start this process at Floors 21+, only available once Way of the Nioh (NG++++) is unlocked. Attempting this below floor 21 does NOT work. Ethereals otherwise drop in Way of the Wise (NG+++).

I'm running 6 piece kigetsu with tonfas and it is a lot of fun. I can hit pretty hard and kill most bosses. Only takes a bit more effort than kusa/odachi, but it's fun seeing hundreds of numbers appear as the boss HP disappears. It's not 1 big 400k, but a lot of small 15-30k and the lw strong attack is a good gap closer if they try to jump.

Use groundfire or paralysis trap. Then use a fully upgrade sword of the kingo set with finishing move effect and you can pretty much one shot those guy like in maborashi mission.

This is about bosses that spam or in LW from the get? There is a 'cure' for that. It is on a WEAPON reforgeable affix - Weaken Guardian Spirits. Haha nothing satisfying than to see POS Nobunaga gets snuff out of his LW as he appears in RotG. Heck you only need 8% of that and its enough to snuff the LW out of bosses like Sanada in Scion of Virtue that lil shite LW as he lands to fight eerp LW dies haha! The hitbox on their aoe when in LW is very generous you only need a slight touch and the bonus activates boom fools are out of LW joke is on them.

dude I was trying to turn my weapon into ethereal in the abyss and for some reason it disappeared, that happened to me twice for no reason and for some reason my dragon sword is nameless

weird. I heard something buggy with the name disappearing, think changing language settings to another language, then back to your own should fix it, but i'm not certain since never had those issues. If you die in the abyss without your spirit, OR, if you use himorogi branches, you lose all your defiled stuff and amrita. If it's not that, then best i can say is copy your save to usb after defiling your gear, and if any go missing, you can recopy save back to ps4 from the usb to get your stuff back, and hopefully not lose it again.

the real question is why? why grind that much for gear that you can what, either A: crush people in vs mode which is laggy as fuck or B: so you can go higher in the abyss. i just dont see the point of it. im having fun going through WotN beating all the stages, but after that since there isnt anymore DLC, there really isnt any point in grinding. great you got a super powerful build, now what? time would be better spent just playing a different game and experiencing something different.

essentially. but the same thing was done for the game when no dlc's were out (which, 4 months before first dlc), you just hung around in ng+ trying different stuff without doing any new content or substantial goal. its a loot rpg, people will find ways to "waste time" in it if they enjoy it still, and 999 floors is a pretty huge time waster I'd say xD

I hope they do away with some of the whacky grind and status effects/buff debuff craze when they do a sequel. In the demos the game was at it's purest form. Still loved the full release and all the dlc though. Break/Parry, elemental status effects (the basics) were done well, all the extra stuff became just extra stuff to deal with or to cheese with lol.

This brings some more life to Nioh... I have heard. I got frustrated when in WotW I finished an entire region and nothing dropped an ethereal. Even Diablo 3 looked at that with disdain. Hopefully this will convince me to go back?

perhaps, but then you realize there's nothing gained from the last floor (999) so the only thing to do after a build is to just get incrementally stronger with higher +lvls from the abyss, or move onto a another build like normal. Perhaps it'll make building easier though, which can still provide a lot of playability like it did back in the day when there was nothing to do, but make more builds :p

Great vid, try a tsukuyomi crit living wep build with onikiba + 1 fanatic. Kato and high nezumi...Either use a moonlit snow or renegade dragon skill wep. Doing this to regenerate all items. It has enough power for any anything. Ps make sure you use shots and pliedes with extraction to restore amrita gauge

you'd have to use another one. If you're a one weapon build, then yah you'd need at least two copies of the sword. early. Do lower floors like 32-38, those are easy yokai mainly

Because idk if simply increasing the defile level will result into turning gear into ethereal, since otherwise anyone that beat ng+ would be able to have ethereals. it might be tied to what drops on those floors your doing, and ethereals don't drop the first couple dozen floors. if you can test to see if it works (like around 4 items for decent chance) that'd be great!

Hey odd question but I just unlocked way of the wise and did the first mission and got an ethereal but was just wondering do I have to beat “the queens eyes” on way of the wise before I can convert divines to ethereals? Also I’m pretty sure with Twilight missions you can do all the ones on way of the samurai, then way of the strong and so forth but I don’t think they’d all have the same loot I could be wrong though I’m not 100% about it

stay the same. only chance they change is if they had full slots, as the grace would obviously have to take the place of a stat in that scenario. and stat taken over is random. So i would reforge after defiling a weapon, not before.

no, you won't pass certain floors. it'll tell you "you need to beat way of the x to pass". Also if you're on samurai or even ng+ i'd avoid the abyss until late wotd, it's not easy with random gear with no build sort of, and not even talking about 1 shot builds. the debuffs and lvls are hard, its the end-end game. worry about beating the difficulties first i'd say.

I'm using one of your old builds as a lw build. Using 3pc way of the warrior, 4 pc kingo's and 1pc sanada for +50% killing strike damage. Works really well. I beat the first 2 floor bosses pretty easily and got some divine's for upgrading. I'm running out of large and standard soulstones. Which mission do you use to farm them in?

Well, considering you'll be stopped at certain points depending on difficulties you've beaten (wotw needs to be beta for 21+ i believe, 31+ for wotn), I wouldn't bother until beating those difficulties. lvl doesn't really matter per say, but say 300+ minimum to do nicely. There's nothing really special about the bosses so doing it early doesn't do much.

you mean to forge a dragon sword? you get the smithing text on wotn master ninja mission. if you mean for the sword to glow, simply wearing the full 7 bonus will cause it to glow and increase damage. dragon truth bonus is needed for this, but it doesn't change the actual wpn, it's just a neat effect from the set bonus :p

what floor did you leave? it's as I presumed, you won't get ethereals if you don't do floors past floor 20 or so. You also can't just defiled then leave after first boss killed :p max that defiled number out (3)!

I was doing 17-21 as ethereals drop from Obsidian Samurai on 21 and my build is not optimized to go beyond 23. All of defiled items had defiled 3. Got some ethereals as drops (even from defiled 0 items), but none of manually defiled items turned into ethereals. Go figure :/

difficulty? it was unlocked as soon as the patch dropped before the last dlc. if wotn was needed to pass floor 31, I imagine wise was to pass floor 21, and perhaps wotd to pass floor 11. so that leaves 10 floors for ng+, unless you needed the first dlc to unlock it all. I assumed it wasn't tied to dlc, but it could have just been not tied to dlc3, so you might have needed on of the prior dlc's. Or you need to beat ng+ maybe.

yes you can .... as long as you can forge them in the blacksmith .... if you cant then you need to play to open the other regions till you can forge level 300 items .... above that can be had doing co-op (I got all my >300 level from co-op)

Well, I can confirm that it made the helm Etheric and it replaced a stat with a grace.

yah replaces a stat, seemingly random. its how some are getting two graces on one item, defiling full slot gear and hope ethereal replace inheritable slot, then inheriting the grace onto another ethereal.

Only just finished my first play through. Got the Platinum and now starting DLC. Regarding twilight missions yeah play them as long as you are at the level of the mission roughly. Divine gear doesn't drop till after you kill end boss so it's NG+ stuff. For gold, put prestige points into blacksmith sell price mark up, also take clan allegiance Furuta for an additional sell price mark up then sell all the gear you are not using in your current build.

op? probably not, but i think i've seen kunai do okay in nioh with the new stats like ninjutsu dmg at full life on gloves or something, certainly not as strong anymore, and if anything gets worse in the higher abyss lvls since you can't do much to raise dmg for kunai other than getting 200 dex/skill, unlike wpns which still get higher +lvls the higher you climb.

passing 200's, haven't seriously grinded floors. the last build video, the next one, will mainly be in the abyss. Quite a few people have gotten some of my already made builds to super high floors, like 999 with perfect susanoo and wild pyro. Next one should do that with same ease as perfect susa, if not easier.

Yup, for Kusa use a Susano Kusa, the Kigetsu Odachi secondary, 4 Kigetsu armor pieces with Susano Kame-Wari Shibata Kabuto and 2 Susano Ranged weapons. For Odachi, use the Kigetsu Odachi and replace the Susano Kusa with Fanatic sword (because quick attacks and Moonlit Snow are worth doing on Odachi). Easy peasy.

Are you version 1.19? If so then complete the mission again because the same exact thing happened to me. Once I completed it the 2nd time it unlocked floor 30+ for me.

since u said the floor level doesnt matter for the defiled, and only the number of floor u went thru ill matter, and then defiled only go up to 3. then isnt it easiest to just defiled the thing u want in floor 1 and then just finish floor 1 to 3?

I assume you need to beat a floor that actually drops ethereals, which isn't till floor 20-21+. I'm unsure if going floors 1-4 (4 bosses need to be beat, 3 to max out, 1 to leave properly) would turn any divine into ethereal. it's either tied to floors, or tied to wpn lvl or something. i'm saying floor doesn't matter as far as chance of turning into ethereals as far as thinking you need floor 100 for better chances or something

you lose all amrita and any defiled gear you had on you, so yes, don't die lol. as far as the ethereal thing goes, i assume you need to beat higher floors for a chance of them becoming ethereal, since the first few dozen floors don't drop ethereals at all as they are essentially lower difficulties and way of the wise like stuff isn't until floor 21. but maybe just getting to max 3 defile level will increase it, haven't tested that (since ochoko's are hard to come by), seems like it wouldn't.

Keep in mind you do not lose them from dying once, you lose them if you die without your guardian spirit, with earthfolding talisman or traveler charms you can just rush to your grave and quickly use the item to get out back to the shrine and plan a better aproach or charge your LW, you can't use summoners candles to bring your guardian back, but you can use a new bell item to call it, it's rather rare since by floor 80 I only have 1.
