I think that is the biggest hurdle for women’s sports…making viewership easy for fans and with them partnering with YT…anyone can watch.

@@alicefox7076that might be why I haven’t given much thought to women’s professional sports before this. Can’t watch->can’t get attached to the team->can’t get emotionally invested Like I love March madness, but I’ve certainly never seen the women’s tournament. Just the men. And if I could actually watch them with virtually no barrier, I might actually be invested in them too.

This league reminds me a little of the 2020 version of the XFL. They didn't try to become too big too fast, and they focused on the fans and the players, with huge emphases on accessibility and satisfaction. And then the world gave us a reminder of why we can't have nice things... I've watched a couple of the game replays (so glad they're available for free!!) and the quality looks very professional and competitive. Very excited to see what the future will bring for the league. Hope there's a team close by someday-though it took the NHL 50 years to get here. All in due time.

@j.frankparnell61959 ай бұрын
The fact that these women know what smelling salts are, proves that they have taken too many shots to the head. Smelling salts are an old method to get the human body to inhale after taking a shot to the head. Women's hockey has too much of a problem with concussions, and the fact that this channel is making light of that is terrible. Women's hockey by far has the most concussions per capita of any sport.

My crappy highschool hockey team would probably beat any of these pwhl teams. That's why theyll never get a proper league going. I don't mean this offensively, but the skill level just isn't there. People are used to the nhl, junior and olympics. Thankfully, seems like they're allowing more contact. Which definitely makes it more exciting. But the skill levels gonna have to go way up before they get any permanent fan base. This is all my opinion. I'm not trying to bash the women or be sexist. Just my observation and opinion on why women's hockey never seems to do well. Similar to basketball. The women's games are just not exciting. Lots of air balls, no dunking. Etc.

Men have all the resources to become as good as they are... these women are doing the best with what they are given. Women's leagues don't do well because they have never been normalized, they don't get nearly as much funding, and are not streamed on well known channels. That is simply it, and your negativity is completely unneeded. These women are not going to read your comment and have some insane realization that nobody watches them because they aren't "good". So truly, there was no point in sharing this negative opinion of yours. Women weren't even allowed to check until VERY recently, so we even had rules restricting us from being more "entertaining" to everyone. Rules set in place by who? You guessed it! Men. To be more specific the IIHF board decided in 1990 after a championship where they allowed it, that there would no longer be allowed body checking. The board was made up of only men, so yes I am sure that is who banned it. Figured I would provide background information so you don't have to tell me I pulled it out of thin air.

If anything the opposite is true. Women don't have an incentive to continue playing and develop their skill as teenagers without professional leagues to enter. As it is a lot of the players with potential quit before or in high school because they can't make a career out of it. The league has to exist before women's hockey can reach its full potential. Supply and demand
